Stripped rotor bolt

Trying to change my rotor, the rusted 6mm allen screw got stripped. Was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions on how to remove it?

Try using a hammer impact screw driver. If that doesn't work drill it out

Take a cold chisel and make a straight on divot at 12 o'clock on the top side face of the screw head. Now tilt the head of the chisel to the right and slightly upward so that the chisel is about 45 degrees off perpendicular (this assumes you swing a hammer with your right hand). Now put the cutting edge of the chisel in the divot and strike the head of the chisel. This action should cause the screw to want to rotate counterclockwise. You may have to repeat several times and may even move your divot point say to 9 o'clock and then strike downward with the chisel. The impact from the hammer blow also tends to break up any corrosion on the screw threads facilitating removal of the screw.

I've drilled the head off, removed the rotor, and unscrewed the stub with a vise grip.

This solution has worked for me.
If they are stuck, I use a torch to heat them up and use PB Blaster.

Well i took a small bit and kinda drilled through the thing hoping to pop it lose, might be in abit of a bind now. I have a bigger bit and see if that will pop off the head, hoping this will work.......

I always just drill them out.

When you drill them out how to remove the left over thread, or will they pop out like afew videos I have seen?

Usually I don't bother. All that screw really does is help keep the rotor in place until you put the caliper back on. Your wheel bolts are what really keep the rotor fixed to the hub.

Otherwise I'd prolly just use PB Blaster + vice grips.

Well the problem is I have to get the head off so I can remove everything, and I am having issues drilling it out....

Just use a drill bit slightly smaller than the head and use moderate pressure.
The screw heads come off easily.

Drilled out the head, took a chisel and hammer to it when it started to loosen up. Hammered it out, it broke off at some point, and plyers to remove what was left.. Took awhile but worked out pretty easy in the end!

If you have s spline bolt removal kit, you can save yourself a lot of effort. That and s cobalt bit set and a little of drill oil.
