I almost bought an ER last week, but the sale was gone by the time I talked myself into it and then got home to order LOL I guess that was the universe's way of telling me I don't need it I have a Dinan, so it's not exactly a "necessity" and I have to have every incentive possible to drop another $1K+ to replace it with essentially the same thing. I just want to move away from the stock connectors for the upgraded turbos, but other than that, it's worked well in Texas

Dinan has a good core with an integrated aluminum shroud (welded on), but damn, I thought it was expensive back when I bought it. $1200+ now, must be a tough sell since you can get the full ER kit for ~$100 more or the basic kit for $250 less.

Honestly, I just want an Intercooler that cools the most I guess with the best quality parts... If that makes any sense... No goals of power in particular , but I do love extra power... This is a good thread. Intercoolers are I believe one of the most important upgrades alongside charge pipe,& other general misc upgrades...
Your first choice is the Wagner right?

You cant go wrong with either option

Yup! Wagner or ER. I guess I'll make my executive decision soon. Been looking up everything about both. I like em , but in the end only 1 will go in my car. at least I am not stuck with 5,6,7 choices like I was a week ago..👍🏻🙃👍🏻

Key differences:

Wagner is stepped core
Standard finish is black

ER standard finish is brushed, option to get anodized black finish for an extra $90 to $100 depending on who you get it from

Wagner offered in Bar and plate (performance) or tube and fin (competition)
ER bar and plate only

Everything else is very similar for both

I'm surprised to see the wagner competition intercoolers use a tube and fin design I understand they can cool off from a heat soak faster but aren't they also easier to heat soak with that design? what's the benefit to go with a tube and fin over the bar and plate we see for almost every other brand?

Personally I prefer bar and plate. Some light reading for you: http://speedtrappconsulting.com/imag...tercoolers.pdf & http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=711491

"the bar-and-plate design is a bit heavier than tube and fin, but this is actually advantageous. A bar-and-plate core can take the damage of front-mount life and endure high boost without flinching. Sealing is superior in bar-and-plate units because the bars and brazing sheets run the length of the unit, providing a 100- percent seal between the ambient and charge sides. A key advantage of bar and plate is its extraordinary variety of fin designs on both sides of the cooler. Further, the height of the passages can be changed by using taller bars and fins, which dramatically expands the possibilities for the intercooler designer. A 3.5-inch thick core gets a 3.5-inch row of fins, not the 2.87 inches found in tube-and-fin designs."

faster recovery ... If you are on a track you dont want your intercooler to stay hot for a long period of time, you want the FMIC to recover as fast as possible so by the time you push the car again temps are good

Tube and fin is also lighter

Note: Most race teams use tube and fin intercoolers on their race cars

I'm running a Wagner Evo 2 Competition on my car. On stock turbos pushing 21psi tapering to 17-ish with inlets, I would see IATs of over 165F during a pull from 3rd to the top of 5th gear in 85F temps. Has anybody actually done any logs with the Wagner Evo2 Comp? To be honest I found its performance disappointing to put it mildly...

It's also better suited for cars in warmer climates and cars with upgraded twins
Will the original VRSF still be available or is this the replacement?

Cool

Hmm... I've been hearing now about ETS... So Mike, how did the ETS compare quality wise with the ER you currently have ?! Just as good!? Gotta love my executive indecision making!! Lol. & wow, this is the first time I have heard anything negative about the Wagner Intercoolers. Hmm.... More thinking is to be done.

There is definitely something wrong with these numbers .. .I would start by checking install again ... Your IAT should be way lower than what you posted

What is there to check? Intercooler is installed correctly and there is nothing blocking its face...

I should be getting my ETS intercooler on Wednesday. I'll report back on some IAT's once I get it installed and logged.

your numbers are off and they do not match with other Wagner EVO 2 comp numbers.

Its probably one of these 4 options.
Bad install is the most likely option in my opinion

1- You got a defective unit
2- intercooler got damaged
3- something is off with the install ( maybe it is not connected 100% correctly blocking air flow)
4- You are not reading the logs correctly

Elevated WGDC and boost leak would run the turbo's harder, inflating IAT's.

That's really the only thing. Your numbers do sound abnormally high.

I guess your only solution besides finding a leak or reason for a WGDC increase (assuming) would be to try out another proven intercooler and see if the results are better.

Got my ETS intercooler last night and installed it.

My only complaint is that the silicone couplers were too high quality and made it hard to install. Just kidding.

Awesome quality product. Very satisfied and thanks to ETS and Jeff@TopGearSolutions for good communication and fast shipping.

I took before install and after install logs I will post when I get home.

I feel ya. Those pieces flex about as much as the aluminum does. I guess we don't have to worry about it coming off though.
