glad to be rid of that clunky ass EGR cooler. it has been blocked for years but now all the low grade exhaust smell that was leaking out of the EGR apparatus is gone. car is slightly more responsive and smells one hell of a lot better. also feels good to take 12 pounds of metal off the front of the engine

Glad that exhaust flange screw didn’t snap on you. Guy over in FB group had this happen a few days ago.

Where EGR cooler connects to exhaust manifold, there are 2 screws holding down that flange. When you ditched the cooler, you put in flat block off flange and likely used 2 new screws. I use antiseaze on them.

exhaust scorching on back of cooler because previous mechanic did not properly tighten both bolts to exhaust manifold after putting in blocking disc.
