another DIY front bumper tab relocation

I don't know why it's called tab relocation. You're shaving off metal and relocating the front screw closer to the front. But anyway, I was too lazy to take off my wheel. I cut and shaved my driver side perfect. On the passenger side...I fucked up but still ok. The hardest part was cutting off that thick piece of plastic after cutting off the metal on the fender.

Just outta curiosity - why did you need to do this?

I've installed both OEM & quality rep front bumpers & never needed to modify these

To go lower in the front. Doing this, I barely rub at this height. Now I can go another 1/2 or 1in lower. It's not the bumpers, but that metal holder that needs modding and the inner fender.

Hmm I may need to do this. Can u possibly take some pictures of what it looks like inside the wheel well from underneath? Maybe with the wheel off/turned out of the way?

Do you only have one screw holding the bumper on?

Yeah I'll do it another day. There are 8 screws holding the entire bumper, 4 at the front, 2 at each side. The screw nearest the wheel is relocated about an inch or 2 closer to the front. Where it was placed before is shaved off.

Which dremel is that? If I have the one you're talking about, it would barely do anything. I'm killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Getting the bumper paint matched with vinyl and it'll act as my clear bra.

I have a feeling that wouldn't do anything still.

Sorry, I meant specifically the bumper to fender screws...
So you drilled a new hole into the fender as well then? Just curious how the screw that you moved an inch or 2 closer to the front connects to the fender...

Thanks for the help!

on 1-2 and 4 pics you see a small hole compared to the larger one on the metal bracket. that's the hole i made. look on the pic with the box cutter, that is where the new hole is, see the bottom pic with the chewed out fender piece of metal and a black screw beside, after that spot is where you put the old screw.

Quick question: How does your bumper hold on now in that corner?

There are 2 screw holes. The one in the front remains in the same position. The 2nd hole is cut off and is moved down about about an inch from the original spot. Holds perfect for the past 1 month and 3k miles with occasional rubbing on dips but still holds integrity.

I just did this on the driver side. I used a multi-tool to cut the metal and plastic. The hardest part is cutting the metal and plastic on the fender side. Bumper side is easy. I might try the passenger side like the OP did and just cut straight across.

I followed these directions.

This was the hard part.

Anyone doing this mod should get this tool. You can sand down that tab flat and you don't need a dremel.
