DIY - How To Remove / Swap an N52 Engine (3 Series - E90)
I have a 2005 BMW 325i (N52B25) with a real bad oil burning problem. So I decided to rebuild the engine. The following video series is everything you need to remove the n52 engine and put it back in again. I hope this can help educate any of you looking to do the same engine removal / swap (even on a n54, n55 or e91, e92 car). I had to piece together a lot of information and have many people to thank (including in this forum) so I hope the video series can help many of you to keep your cars running strong!
Part 1: How To Remove / Swap An N52 Engine From A BMW E90 In Your Driveway In this video you will learn how to prep your engine for removal. 1. Disconnect the battery 2. Remove undertray, fender liner and front bumper 3. Remove airbox and some wiring 4. Drain all fluids 5. Disconnect all Coolant and PS lines from radiator 6. Remove front crash bar and radiator Last edited by BuildAndDrive; 09-03-2021 at 03:58 PM.. |

N52 Re-assembly
Swap over all the parts that you need from your old engine (wiring harness, all accessories, fuel rail, vanos, coolant pipes, spark plugs, exhaust headers etc). Install new gaskets on everything and get it ready to put back in the car.

Fantastic video!
Did you ever figure out where the straight rubber molding (at 20:22 in the first video) belongs? I've changed my radiator and ended up with this same piece as an extra part. Very curios where it fits, especially since my radiator has now failed 3 times. Has me wondering of this piece performs some important damping or insulation function? Thx! |
