Call me a simple soul, but if any of you get a chance to view John Barnard (ex McLaren F1) and Terence Woodgate's surface table at Salon del Mobile (Milan) this year, then believe me that is engineering.
The table is 3x1 m and the table top is only 2mm thick It was featured in this Saturday's Daily Telegraph Magazine with them both pictured sitting on top of it If I can find any pictures I'll post them

Looks dangerous to me. If you revolved it while a small child or family pet was sitting in the centre it could be nasty.
I'd like to see a risk assesment. I'd also like to know why the woman was wearing flip flops and a gym skirt. |

Geometrically its quite clever too. The segments in the smaller circle are also segments of the bigger circle. Well, the radius has changed, and yet both sizes look like a true circle.
Mind your fingers.
