I did skim. It would be my solution, but I obviously didn't read that part. Good catch.

Sounds like you need a minivan for all that stuff.
You might look at a chrysler pacifica or pacifica hybrid.
Unfortunately most of the time life is a compromise.

Been following the Pacifica Hybrid forum .
But it's not recamended for towing.
Since gas is more than twice that in the US and there
is an insane government rebate and its also made assembled
in Canada it might be a deal and a patriotic thing to do.

A 330 6sp is a Unicorn though.

My mom has driven a Chrysler mini van for 20 years until me and my siblings moved out. I would not recommend them, they all seem to have too skinny of a tire and electrical issues.

are you silly....? Selling a 6MT 330i with a new OFHG, WP/thermostat, etc. After you replace the VCG it's practically a new car!

Seriously though, it's not worth it to sell. 6MT 330i combo is rare. 330i has the most potent NA E9X motor. Don't sell it!!! You won't get more than $7500 USD here.

If you need a beater 4WD/AWD SUV, which sounds like you do...Get a 2005-2009 Rav4, CRV, 4Runner, Highlander, etc. Should be able to pick any of these up with under 120k miles for $6-8k. Hondas and Toyotas will last forever and take quite a beating.

@hassmachine pointed out a curt hitch with 2000lb capacity, I already have have small enclosed cargo trailer, and a hitch mount bicycle rack, so for about 200 bucks, I'm pretty much good. Keeping the 330i :-) I had considered a hitch but the only one i could find that officially fit was a 1000lb one from UHaul.

Did someone actually suggest a mini van?l lol

Withhold it until wife agrees to drive a MT BMW 330i, one of the finest automobiles in the world.

Close thread.

Just wanted to update the post. I got curt hitch, and it fit. I did end up with a LOUD rattle from the back after install that took me awhile to track down. The vacuum actuator on the muffler is/was very close to the hitch bracket, close enough that it rattled against it at times. I took a file to the bracket to clearance it a bit so it's not a problem. If you have a e90 with the single exhaust that has the vaccum actuated flap, you might want to test fit, and take a grinder to the hitch bracket where it's close to the valve so you don't have this issue.

How much are you planning on selling the 330 for? Or trade-in?

E91 X-Drive? E70 Diesel for sweet towing, torque, and MPG?

Who has the heavy tongue? The dog?

The E61 does look pretty sweet. Very rare around the states to be honest, even more so if you wanted to find a manual one.

Don't do it. You will miss it every time you switch on the replacement car, and the remorse does not lessen. Every time you drive, even the smallest errand, you will feel bad about getting rid of it. And they don't make them like that anymore.

Happened to me - vowed to never sell a car I really enjoy unless the replacement is better. Went back to an E90 😀

It's hard to find an honest front engine rear wheel drive sports sedan nowadays. A free revving smooth inline-6 car with sporting intentions yet livable; free from superflous gimmicks to mar the driving experience. With the 330i, you have the venerable N52 reliability to boot.

Keep your 330 and buy an e39 Wagon. Some people are selling the wagons for really cheap. Many people would argue that a wagon may look funny but I think otherwise. Also it comes in handy in the winter if you don't care much for a truck.
