Test N Tune 17 July 2024

I ran my car at the TNT at Willowbank Raceway launching just on the brakes rather than launch control. With the ZF 6HP21,I managed a 1.56s 60' time but with the ZF 8HP75, 3 attempts resulted in poor 60' times around the 2.0s and times 11.4 -11.5s. As they say for every tenth you reduce your 60' time, it results in 2 tenths off your 1/4 time. When I did the 10.6s run using launch control, i had a 1.58s 60' time. 4 tenths difference or 8 tenths better times. Using the brakes, I could only stall to 2,000 rpm with little boost. With lauch control, I was launching at 6-7,000 rpm but the diff doesn't like it very much.

I think it is time to sell my car after 13yrs of enjoyment. Achieving 10.6s has been rewarding but at my age 72, I am getting too old for changing engines, transmissions, etc on car stands.

Well done Coupes.... has been quite a ride !!!!
10.6 is an amazing time, congrats mate, has been a privilege to follow along mate. Completely understand why you are thinking of packing away the tools. These cars have been great but the older they get the more work they need.... (bit like us really ) I say move it on and get yourself something you can enjoy just as much without all the work involved.
Love the pic by the way mate

Thanks Socks. I have a G42 M240i xDrive which I hardly drive because the E92 is parked in front of it and I drive it all the time. If I get rid of the E92, there will be no excuse for not driving the M240i which is a great car to drive. As you would have noticed, E90Post Australia is almost dead with very few new threads. You and I are probably the only ones who look at it now. 5 or 6 years ago, there were new threads everyday but the E90/92/93 platform is almost dead. However, *********** N54 still appears fairly active. You will have to upgrade soon yourself Socks although your E92 is a unique gem.

You are 100% correct, very little activity in this old forum and agree the N54 platform has come and gone. Was a great time but is has been 12 years of modding fun and met some great people such as yourself along the way. No chance Ill be retiring spcgry anytime soon. No point really. Doubt anyone would want to buy it and it still runs and drives great. But yes I have an Audi A1 which is my daily these days. Gary gets driven every other week and is spending more time now doing car audio system demos then anything else
If you are ever down this way, let me know, would be great to catch up and go for a spin

By the way, there was a week old Dual Motor Model 3 Tesla at the TNT doing 11.2s runs so why go to all of the effort trying to get an e92 335i going fast.

EV's are crazy fast, but I love the drama of a turbo spooling or exhaust notes.
Unfortunately the e9x n54 platform is really a labor of love (why my has been parked up for a year or so)
