PCV needed?
When I open the oil cap, and put a bag over it the bag is getting sucked in.
Am I right in thinking That, i need a new pcv? Any idea where I can order it from? |

Moe sounds like you've sure got a breather valve issue they aren't unheard of and we've got a 325i in for the same issue tomorrow which we looked at te other day. On that car you pull the dip stick partly out the tube open tge filler cap and the car cuts out.
You replace the valve but I'd also replace the pipes as well (they'll be 3 or 4 pipes) the whole lot from BMW costs around £113+VAT. |

Or using www.bmwfans.info/ put the last 7 digits of your chassis in on the parts catalogue icon on the top left then you'll be able to see the necessary diagram with part numbers |

When you take the oil cap off it should suck in air as the crankcase should always be in depression, it's a legal requirement that all engines have a negative crankcase pressure.
The PCV is there to regulate the amount of depression - how much depression varies with different engines but the ones I develop at work run at -25mBar at idle. By removing the oil cap you are allowing unmetered air to enter the engine which will make it run rough and in some cases will try to stall. |
