Garage List
+1 on the squealing. I've got pagids all round and they squeal like a mother* horrible. Not had an issue with warping. Other OEM type is Textar from Euro car parts. maybe give them a go.

We've given up using Pagid stuff at one point we used to use it now as we've gone through replacing the stuff due to squealing and other issues I simply won't entertain using it we've had the rep in and I've explained the situation if I fit BMW stuff or Bosch stuff I don't get the come backs they drive the cars the same way yet the same customer with Pagid had issues (and I've shoved discs in front of them to show them visually the issues as well) I've used Textar stuff with slightly better results but we've had the odd blip here as well with these squealing (they are apparently made to different specifications but at the same factory)

Its a shame really as they are one of the biggest suppliers out there but there is clearly for the average motorist an issue with their raw materials IMO. What it is I don't honestly know but as a garage we advise based on what we've seen.

But as said we fit Gen items for BMW's and explain the reasons why too, genuine parts give us less grief. All brakes are always fully cleaned and copper greased and I never have an issue with any Genuine brakes fitted and this for us has happened now for a good 20 or so months which is great news.

We've fitted the odd EBC product which interests me for the future but haven't sadly had any feedback so cannot say but EBC looks a good product

Yup Pagid are a no go anymore, well apart from their RS pads which are huge thumbs up still. They'll warp, squeal and generally ruin a perfectly good motor.

Not sure if this is of any help but Im told disks rarely warp and what most people describe as "warping" is in fact uneven pick up of pad material onto the disks which causes noise and vibration when the pad is pressed onto the disk again.
Im told proper bedding-in can prevent and/or cure this problem in most cases.

FWIW I undertook a gradual bedding-in process which got the brakes really hot.

I have Pagid disks all round and have near-silent and vibration-free brakes - at the moment. OEM rear pads and Tarox fronts.

Mine where 100% warped, you could see it and the vibration was more than a vibration, it shook the car apart. The Pagid pads also squeal. I still have pagid pads on the rear and the squealing drives me nuts.

From the performance side of things you tend to find the big company's road side of things are fine for you 1.2 corsas and fiestas ect but with something with a big of get up and go (and an automatic where people hold there car on the brakes at red lights ect) they just Arnt up to the job, two big company's are mintex and pagid , iv had mintex road pads fall off there backing plate on my pervious car and a mate also had it happen on his civic type r , never again would I touch a mintex pad , then there's pagid , with story's like above , but here's the weird bit, both these company's have racing devisions mintex racing and pagid RS , and I use both these pads on my track car to no ill effects which is nice but at the same time a shame they can't have the same technology transferred to there road goingn stuff , one company that do just make poop is ebc , there red/yellow/green stuff pads are shocking , there disks are ok , I would personally avoid there pads tho

I find for how fast the 335d is in mapped mode the brakes are shockingly poor , got a set of mintex racing pads getting made to go in to see if that can stop the old girl ! Failing that ds2500 pads are excellent for road use , just not track as sadly they get a bit to hot (so do the ds3000's) and the compound starts to transfer to the disk surface , giving you the impression it's a warped disk but really it's just pad material

2 things I like on a car is good brakes and good tyres lol

People who have had problems with the pagid discs have they been using pagid pads with them too?

I was thinking about putting pagid discs on but going with ATE pads instead.
