I just want to thank you guys for posting all this great information. You've saved us a small fortune! We bought my son a 2008 550i M Sport in July. It's his first car and we all love it. However, it's given us nothing but problems since day 1. We had the valve cover gaskets and valley drip pan replaced to fix an oil leak and a fluid leak. We replaced the oil level sensor, and the battery. And most recently it's been giving us the throttle valve potentiometer codes, surging terribly and going into limp mode. We read this thread and decided to unplug the throttle valve potentiometer and blow out the connector. Miraculously it worked! No more limp mode, no more codes! Hopefully this will be the end of our issues. But if not, we know where to go for great information. Thank you!!!!!!!

Hey friends, wondering if anyone had this code return after new throttle body, cleaned connector, plugs, coils, charge pipe o ring, etc.

What else is there to check? I'm running an EOS intake manifold, so smoke test is best?

It's been 4 years since I cleaned the connector on mine. No issues still . Good luck!

Is it cleaning the plug or the socket on the throttle? Do you need to disconnect the battery?
