For me, the car began to have longer crank times occaisionally, my SA said that was a sure sign and replaced it. |

Mine had no signs , and went while I was doing 80ish on the highway, a thump then the car started running horrid, and had little to no power, also I did not get any warning light or Idrive message like other E60 owners have been getting recently.

This is something I picked up onanother thread about the fuel pumps and tunes:
"...newer progman from BMW that caused it, with a lot more safety features (protective power reduction) built-in. One of these safety features include aggressive engine protection from reduced fuel pump function" They are discussing the steady decrease in power even after a tune such as dinan and the HPFP failure that follows. I am not sure about the validity of that, but it seems to make sense as i have noticed the car is not as quick even with Dinan as whne I first got the tune. Sorry if this is off topic, but it seemed to tie in since 29.2 created a lag, it may also have created more than we have addressed. 29.2 could have been created to save not only wastegates and turbos but HPFP as well(and who knows what else). That would be a good reason to not acknowledge it at first. Not having to replace those three parts would saved BMW a ton of money

thanks. sorry to hear that with 31.1 you are still very laggy i have read that regarding lag, 31.1 was better than 30.2 ...do you agree? note that 29.2 is supposed to be the worst of all.

F@@K!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been keeping away from my dealership since I have 12/07 build and have no lag compared to my 03wrx. I had my fuel sensors replaced last week...no update done. The two days latter my alarm is going off....dead battery. Bring it back, told it was some module in the the footwell, and the progman has to be updated!! What annoys me even more is that when asked about the lag....I'm told they haven't seen It at they're dealership, and when questioned about BMW's supposedly offical response...I'm told that I probably know more about it than him!! I guess I'll see first hand tomorrow what all this lag talk is about. |

10k. Another thing that annoys me is that when I first brought my car in for the fuel sensors, I asked about the lag, and my service advisor said he was aware of the complaints, but didn't know more than that. now that I'm getting an update and persued It further. He's telling me that they've never seen it and basically not to believe everything I read on the Internet.

According to my best recollection, the story went like this: Some people had problems with v29.2 and were told that nothing had changed, so it had to be fallacy. If I had not believed what I experienced with v30.x and read here, I would never have pressed BMW to check my car. It would never have went into BMW R&D and they would never have considered a fix for something that they think "may be perceptible to the most sensitive BMW drivers" only. "Aware of the complaints", wow, a few weeks ago that might have been "You must be kidding". Apart from that, a good advice. |

That's part of the problem...as far as I'm concerned there is no proof of BMWNA's Official statement...as in a release bulletin on their website, or something else in writing etc...all we have is a statement on the internet from bimmerfile about BMW's response. If i could get a printout or link to BMWNA's site regarding this issue..I have a leg to stand on at the dealership. It would be great if the dealership was onboard to getting to the bottom of this problem, get in contact with bmwna and verify BMWNA's acknowledgment and promised fix. |

I just got off the phone from BMWNA. Until now I never had a reason to waste my time calling them. IMO there is some truth that you can't believe everything you read on the internet and will post my personal experience with the turbo lag once I pick up my car. However, I can say the BMW representative I spoke to on the phone confirmed that BMW sent out an official bulletin regarding 335 turbo lag as mention previously in other posts(not service bulletin fyi) to all the BMW service managers early Nov. He gave me his name and ext number, which i had emailed to my dealership. I'm already pissed and I haven't even driven my laggy car yet. |

not sure if you are kidding.
before 29.2 i had 27.x the 27.x was great....29.2 sucks - even with all my mods. my guess is that your 29.1.1 is laggy like the 29.2 ...BEST TO: find a guy with approx may 07 production date that has not been updated. he will definitely have the older v80 ecu and should have 27.x hate to tell you this, but if you drive that car, you may just find a big surprise as to how the N54 motor used to be. i am hoping like everyone else that the new bmw 32.x software fixes the lag like it is supposed to.

I heard 32 is in Jan, so you can search all you want, you are going to be on the line of the have and have nots. No way to tell before you get the car. The good new is, you will most like get the car after the SW is out, so ask for it before you pick the car up!
