I think it's just the lack of human interaction that's strange for some owners and the hit and miss results from the BMW read outs, whether via idrive or the instrument cluster, doesn't help.
Strange how BMW still adopts a dipstick for the coolant level though. |

Has to be a manual choke of course, not one of those new fangled auto-chokes.
I love the oil level sensor - great idea - but seeing the oil on a dipstick was a good visual condition check. When it was sticky and black with swarf in, you knew it was time for some new oil.... |

No oil dipstick or engine temperature gauge
I just purchase a used low mileage 2009 328i manual with the sport package. This is my fourth BMW and the first without a physical oil dipstick and engine temperature gauge. When I was looking into buying an e90, I thought I could deal without both these but I have to say I'm really not at all. This is a BMW after all. An enthusiast car. It's truly making me want to sell it after only 5 months and go back to the older models.
