I find the Falken a superb tyre on my 3-series, still amazed how good they are wet or dry. My only concern is how they will do when down to about 4mm, as I've read some complain they lose performance, part way through their life. Seems they harden more than some tyres when worked hard, so performance may drop off for the more aggressive user.
I'd also be a bit concerned putting them on a 645, but only based on the hardening factor. I've used the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (chosen for the wet weather performance) and the performance of the Falken is up there with the F1 for wet weather driving. HighlandPete |

On the Bridgestone RFT's my rear wheels spun regularly when starting off. On Falkens, they have not spun once in 4000 miles. |

Cheers for the further ideas. I've just got up. More research to be done!

I did this to Michellin PS2 on the Renault at Spa, where it was 28c ambient and sunny all weekend. They were awful at Rockingham afterwards and I swapped them straight away. |

My Falkens don't have rim protection, well if they do it's next useless.

The old Pirelli's weren't so good. The new ones though are really really good, especially now they do the full bespoke system of Direzionale and Assimetrico. If it weren't for the Continental 5Ps, I'd have gone for the Michelin PS2s (at £1100 unfortunately) and if I didn't want to spend that much, then the Pirelli's at £800-odd. Nothing else would have come into the equation for me.

Still can't decide whether to replace (the car) or not - need to do some more sums.
That said - I've sourced a part worn rft which has 4.5mm left

Just my tuppenceworth:
I ran a set of 17" Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3's on my old e36 318iS for years, then I took the wheels off and ran them on my e46 320d for a year and they are still in the garage but very well worn. I reckon I got 30,000 miles out of them and I can't throw them out, they were probably the best set of tyres I've ever bought. In fact, one of them has been recycled for the kids ZIP line!! I ran Conti SC2 and 3 on my Saab 9-3, they really didn't last on the front, 10k was an average although the rears were on the original set at 25K. I had 18" Pirelli P-Zero Nero's on the e46 and they lasted well, but I didn't like them as much as the Goodyears in terms of wet weather grip and noise. My Bridgestone RFTs are very noisy and pretty uncomfortable so I'm watching this with interest! HTH |

Good job I changed that tyre as it had a big gash down to the metal in it - on the inside edge where it was worn to buggery.

Tyres again - Not buying winters as they are a PITA to source for my sizes
245/40/19 275/35/19 My rear Bridgstone RFT's are nearly at the indicator and so will need to replace all 4 to non-rft soon. My choices Falken 452 - Hankook Ventus - Conti CSC2 - Toyo Proxes or the most expensive - Michelin Pilot sport 3 I'd like to keep the bill under a grand if I could - most of my driving is motorway. What would you get?

I'd still be tempted by Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas - £280ea for rear and £240ea for fronts, so £1040 for the lot from Event. CSC2 is a very old tyre, so I'd discount that immediately. I'm not really sure about the rest.

The tyres work out cheaper from Camskill (£734 odd + Del), but you'll have to pay to have them fitted. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b758s32...19_245_40_R_19 http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b758s33...19_275_35_R_19 |
