335xi vs 535xi handling?
Okay so my dad already has a 535xi with steptronic, sport package, 18 inch rims (staggered tires, I believe 245 in front 275 in the back) and I have a 335xi coupe manual on order with the sport package ang 18's as well.
Both of us are pretty interested in trying out autcross and I was just curious about exactly how dead even of a match out cars would be. I figure the 535 is about 150 pounds heavier but also has tires that are quite a bit wider so those should even out. Then I figure you're basically in second teh whole race in autocross so the transmission differences even out so that brings it to suspension. I know neither of these has a true sport suspension due to the xi, but is one or the other "sportier"? Basically my question is which of these two cars would have better handling stock and be better at autocross? Or do you think they have almost identical potential? |

According to my sales guy who's owned both 5 series and 3 series, the 3 series is more sporty, and gives you better coupling to the road. The 5 distances you a bit, 6 even more, etc. The 3 series tends to be a closer extension of the hand.
I'd like to know what your results are on the track though. I was leaning towards the 535xi when I got the 335xi. |
