I have posted my problems in another thread but, my 2006 325i 16" RFTs started the noise around 17K miles. Really loud now at 21K-even turning up the radio does not help now:mad: . My wife sort of smerks at the BMW issues. Dealer was no help. The tires are OK except in heavy rain. BMW NA has refused to assist. Bridgestone sent me to a store to inpsect the tires. Interesting: 5/32 on the out sides of all four tires. 9/32 on the centers in the front and 7/32 on the rear centers. So the center has a lot of thread left. The local tire store management has been very helpful (probably sniffs more BMW suckers coming for new tires on a new car) making calls to Bridgestone corporate and seeking an adjustment. My case is now with Bridgestone at the regional level but they have not responded to the local Bridgestone dealer as of today. I am asking for replacements.
If I have to purchase tires, I would like to stay with RFTs but the only other ones are the contis. Let me know if anyone tries the contis. |

Run-Flat tires on a 2006 330xi
After fighting with my dealer for 6 months over this issue, they finally made a goodwill gesture and wrote a check for $600 as partial compensation for the lousy Bridgestone RFT's. I now have Goodyear Eagle F-1's on my car. What an unbelieveable difference in both ride and noise level. My recommendation to everyone with RFT's is to scrap them and get a good set of Eagle F-1's or the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's.

Like others say, the switch to "regular" tires makes a huge difference...the sidewalls on the RFT tires make them not very absorbant, your car will drive "like it should" once you change tires.....

I switched over to Continental Non RunFlats. The noise is gone and the ride quality has drastically improved.

Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLC’s is currently investigating allegations that BMW vehicles equipped with run-flat tires are wearing unevenly and prematurely, thus, causing owners and lessees to replace the tires after a very short life-span. Check out the link below.
