DISA valve conundrum, need some second opinions please!

Hey guys,

I recently installed a 3 stage intake manifold and when I flashed the free Bimmerlabs 330i tune I was a bit underwhelmed, so I began to investigate for problems.

What I found was that my large DISA was not closing all the way. I removed the screws holding the DISA to the IM and pulled out the DISA valve so I could see. I then actuated it with INPA and observed it not closing all the way while everything was still installed on the car.

So I ordered new DISA valves. Both of them, large and small.

Today I pull my intake manifold to swap them out and guess what?!?

Both DISA valves work perfectly on the bench after having removed them from the intake manifold.

Do I keep running them? Do I replace only the large one because its known to be finnicky? Do I replace both of them because I have the parts and the intake manifold out already?

The DISA valves weren't cheap, but knowing for sure that I've got working parts in there is at least worth something. The old DISA valves are from 2009 (if I'm reading the date codes on them right).

Just looking for some second opinions, what would you do?

If you can afford to replace both right now, it's worth not having to do this job again in the near future once it fails.

FYI the smaller DISA is a steal on this eBay listing. It's an authentic Vaico one. I grabbed it as a backup myself.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards just putting the new ones in and maybe selling the old functional one. Then also if/when i sell the car i can probably get good money for my 3IM with fresh DISAs in it because i could just get new ones from FCP.

Could the green rubber seals have swollen over time, causing the flap to get stuck in the frame once the valve assembly is installed inside the manifold? They are supposed to be an oil compatible material but all the used ones i have seen have missing chunks
