Does valve order matter if you use new seals and lap them.

I am redoing my head and it would be nice to soak all my valves in the carb cleaner basket at once but I don't know if it matters which hole they were in since I am getting new seals and I am going to lap them as well.

I would put them back in the spot they came out of. It might not even matter but my OCD would figure they were worn to the particular guide they occupied for the past 70k miles.

I would think they are likely worn to fit the seats they've been sealing against too...

Agreed, he mentioned he was going to lap the valves so I didn’t mention it. But I definitely would put them back where they came out of.

Yeah, I am doing the lap too but I still am keeping them in the same order. I did get a cheap valve spring remover from Amazon and using a drill with a screw hook made it fast to use. Don't know why people rent these for $75 when I bought a spring compressor for $23 that works great.

I like the idea of that valve spring compressor with the battery powered drill.

Here are some photos of a simple effective valve spring compressor that I made for my Yamaha FZ1:
