Continental DWS06 and flatspotting
Just had DWS06 225/50/16 put on my car as I need decent snow/slush capabilities and keep the same tires year round. They are great so far, only a few hundred miles. Seem to corner better than the old DWS I had on my Acura.
Problem though is they flatspot when parked in the garage overnight. The rumbling from the flat spots works itself out after a few miles, but it is still disconcerting that they wouldn't engineer this out of the tires. I am running 37f/41r to aid in the issue, but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Should I live with it or trade them on something else. Gary what is TireRack's stance on this? |

Some tires in some sizes on some cars in some conditions can have this happen from time to time. We have found no higher instance of this with the DWS06 versus other tires. I've had some sets do it with a vehicle sitting over the weekend, and others not do it on a car that sat all winter. It is a temporary condition that will not harm the tires.

thank you Gary, I wonder how widespread the issue is with the dws06? They have a suitable load rating for my weight car.

Had experience with DWS and other Conti tires, they all seemed to have had flat spotting. Something they just can't get right I guess. I've been very happy with any Michelin tires I've ever bought. Never any issues. Just drive and enjoy.

yes I had michelins on the car before these dws06 and had zero flatspotting issues. was between the as3 and the dws06 for this purchase, but too many negative reviews on the as3 especially for winter use forced me into the dws06. i think i am going to be happy with the dws06 most of the time, it is just those first few miles that are infuriating. c'mon continental get your act together.
