335d starting to throw codes
48K on my ///Msport 335d. Flawless and code free until the last couple of days and the P02D3 OBD Code: Cylinder 4 Fuel Injector Offset Learning at Max Limit shows up. I haven't had any issues with the car but it looks like CBU is rearing its ugly head. MPG has been down lately but I attributed it to winter blend diesel. I've gotten as high as 39 in the summer and as low as 25 this winter.
I've heard the horror stories of dealers throwing injectors at the diesel cars before finally relenting and doing a CBU clean. Anyone locally have any luck getting the dealers to address the real problem rather than just throwing parts at it? 2011 w/ 48K, CPO warranty intact. Thanks! |

Did you solve the problem? 25 mpg in the winter seems pretty good to me for the horrible traffic in Seattle. I have 23.5 mpg and the car said my avg speed is 18. But so far I don't get any codes.

I opted to not clear the code and leave it for the dealer. They are usually at least a couple of weeks out (need a loaner) and thankfully the car is driving well w/ no stumbles...yet.

Just had my 335D cleaned of deposit buildup. A week at Bellevue BMW. Mileage and power way up. Scary worry. What to do in another 50k? And, BMW knows of this issue?

Warranty $50 out of pocket. Got a call from BMW NA. They are aware of this issue and will track vin codes as a means perhaps to mitigate future same-issue. Am basing my loyalty to BMW on how this is treated.

Update: Car is back now after 6 business days or so. The idle stuttering is gone and mileage is up. I never really noticed a power loss but I don't drive it much. It did just average 35mpg on a drive over to Spokane so that is encouraging. They did break a wiring clip under the hood during the service but didn't say anything about it. That sort of thing annoys me to no end. What else may they have overlooked during the service? I'll wait to rate the service until all loose ends are tied up.
Out of pocket cost: $54 after tax. Im contemplating on dumping the car before the 100K warranty is up b/c by then CBU will be back again. |

I too am a 335d owner with 42k miles. I have gotten codes over the last month that have cleared them self after the car sits over night. I found that both codes came on when I was idling in a parking lot taking a conference call. I called BMW of Belleuve and the SA has suggested that it maybe due to a CBU issues. I have a schedule appointment for the 29th to bring the car in. I'll posted a follow up later.

Update:
So after 2 days in the shop BMW has found that I had a Defective Throttle Valve. Not 100% convinced that was the issue even though that's what the code read. I wasn't having any throttle issues and the car drove perfectly fine. The SA said that I didn't have the CBU issue and that when I did it would be covered by the CPO. |
