This thread was a sticky and now it's not, why?

This should totally be a sticky again.

Thank you WSTO!

Johan from WSTO:

How is it that the Volk G2 Type II and the TE37 above wider wheel weigh LESS than the more narrow wheel?
You have them listed as:
19x8.5 = 22.0lbs
19x10.5 = 20.8lbs

Did you somehow reverse the pics?

If the 8.5" has a very low offset (more backpad) and the 10.5" has a very high offset (less backpad) then the weights are probably correct. It could also be a typo.

Looks like he mixed up the pics, because to me it looks like the wheel in the pics that says '19x8.5' looks wider than the wheel in the '19x10.5' pics.

yes it's true. sometimes narrower wheels weight more because of offsets. In this case it's typo

Came across this on Bimmerfile:

"These Perfromance wheels are built of low pressure cast and machined aluminum helping keep the weight down to forged levels, 25 lbs. for the 19″s and a pound less for the inch smaller offering."

BBS is a fantastic wheel, but they favor strength over weight savings. The Multi-piece forged wheels are fairly light for a multi-piece wheel, and the cast monoblock wheels are just that...cast...so weight is a bit higher in order to maintain strength.

Advan is a fantastic wheel and what I use on the track

I got my new 18 inch style 313s the other day. I weighed them at 23.5 lbs. These are the 18x8.5 et 37.

This was right about I expected. Can't wait to get them mounted. I should be saving about 10 lbs per corner over my Style 159s with RFTs (wheels and tires).
