Cic Retrofit VIN change issue
Hi all, i know there are loads of posts regarding the VIN change on a cic but i can't find anything specific to my problem.
I have fitted the cic and everything works apart from the navigation (Greyed out). i have a working set of bmw tools (ediabas, inpa, etc) on my laptop and a few different k+dcan cables that work for everything apart from my problem. following this guide here.. https://www.car-auto-repair.com/how-...dia-by-tool32/ i can load the job, CMEDIAR but get a " no response from controller" error everytime. I have since found out this is for the combox and as i don't have this yet then that would explain the error. Is this correct? When i run the job, CICR i get an "OKAY" status but the nav still is greyed and checking in cicmafia show the original cic vin (not mine) I then found the info here..http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forum...sc-code.39240/ This suggest different jobs, etc but on each time i run a job i get the error "JOB STATUS : ERROR_VEHICLE_IDENTIFICATION_NR" looking around, this should be pretty straight forward but whatever i do doesn't work. Does anyone have a definitive guide or any tips to help me. The unit is a cic business (Code 606A) |

You need to load the FSC vin set for your car from the repair pack (or write your own). Quote:
Then it will work. Changing the vin will do nothing, except change the vin. The nav will still be grayed out, its not just the vin that controls whether the nav woks, its the FSC certificates stored on the cic, they have to match with the vin (and the cars vin in the CAS) and currently they don't (the cas and the cic do, but not the FSC and the vin). TBH, its not worth doing for the business cic, might be an idea to upgrade to the PRO nav (609).

Cheers for the reply, I'll look into the signing of the certs. What I don't understand though is that if I've changed the vin on CICR then why would cic mafia still report the old vin back.
If i had the cash to go for the pro nav then I would but the business nav, screen and dashboard were virtually free, hence why I fitted it |

It still wont make the nav work though. Quote:
Have a look at getting the emulator then, or scripting the cic

You should be able to script or emulate though.

Hi I have a CIC nav. I can get the 1b file from usb but it's a doner CIC. It doesn't produce the correct map code. I'm not sure if I have an emulator I took the system apart and couldn't see anything obvious as to an emulator.
It's been a while but I remember one of the programs used to gain FSC or 1b files it showed the vins are miss matched also stated there is an emulator. Although I can't see it on the harness. If anyone knows what software I can use to bypass the vin and emulator be helpful. |

You can always script activate. That’s what I did because my unit wasn’t on c1a firmware and I didn’t want to pay $200 to have someone update it.
But tbh I think you’re better off just installing a mmi box so you can use CarPlay or android auto. I don’t even bother with the factory cic navigation now and only use CarPlay cause it’s so much more modern and has a lot more functionality. |
