Probably has been covered to death, but I'm after opinions regarding ditching my 313M's due to low profile tyre, bad ride etc. and getting some 18 or of possible 17".

Question is are there any 17's that will look good and fit the E92 330i N53?

I can get some non-run flats but I reckon 19's are still too big and low profile!

Anybody got any pictures of 17's with more rubber (beefy looking) (not looking for winter setup)?

You're correct, but was hoping for a little advise as most fairly priced 17" wheels are 7.5J

For instance the G11 style 618 are 7.5J, how would that compare to staggered 8 & 9J front and back.

Hi there,

Dropping down to 18" or 17" wheels is a great way to run a tire with a bit more rubber. This typically helps with ride quality and the larger sidewall also helps protect the wheel from road hazards such as potholes. As a bonus, smaller diameter wheels are also lighter and have less expensive tire options as well!

Here are a few pictures of some E90s with 17" wheels:







For your reference, the grey car is running a 17x9" ET30 square setup with 255/40-17 tires at all four corners.

The white car is running a 17x9" ET42 square setup with 255/40-17 tires and 12mm spacers all around.

Was a little skeptical running 17's, specially squared! Any idea what the minimum width should be to still get power down? I'm assuming anything lower than 8J wouldn't be ideal?

The wheels I believe are Arc-8's

The grey car is running Flow Formed ARC-8 wheels and the white car is running Forged ARC-8R wheels.

The wheels I believe are Arc-8's

Typically on the non-M E92 chassis, you can fit up to 9" wide wheels with 245 or 255 wide tires as a direct fit on a stock car. For an N/A 330i, that will be plenty of tire to get the power down.

Do like the Apex wheels looks stunning but bit too expensive specially in UK.

Would anyone have a idea of what these these are? Or anything similar to these with concave design and fair price

Those are Volk TE37s. There are several companies out there that make replicas, I believe Varrstoens are the most popular reps.

If you are sizing down wheels, don't sacrifice width while doing so. You should stick to 9" wheels if you want to go with a 'square' setup, that is all 4 wheels & tires being the same size. This always you to freely rotate the wheels between corners for even wear.

Thanks, exactly what I wanted/wondered to know, didn't know whether going below 9J would cause traction issues or not!

Tire width is the most important factor for traction. You can always size down a wheel width but run the same size tire. But if you got down to a 7.5", then a 255 width tire will be too wide.

So I've looked around and have come across F30's 400M, but my concern is with these being light and bending/buckling easily?

Especially as they come with factory 225/45 and 255/40 but I'll have to change these to E9X spec which is 225/40 and 255/35!

Would anyone know if there is a risk of running a lower profile tyre as above compared to stock? Are these wheels designed to accommodate the 40/45 aspect or would they be fine with the 40/35?

Your tires won't cost as much & you will have more choices

We test fit some on an e92 and the offset was all off. Double check the offsets.
