Power Class Change CAS Flash Error

Back again... this should be the last thing to fix on this car to get it running at full power. It's definitely in limp mode, it's SOOOO slow. It can't get out of its own way.

I realized that I need to change the power class on the DME (6BMOT) and CAS2. I was able to code the DME to wert_01 from wert_00, but when I try to code the CAS to klasse_01 from klasse_00, it doesn't let me write. I'm able to read it and modify the FSW_PSW.trc in NCS Dummy no problem, but when I try to flash it I get the following error in error.log
Quote:
[16:05:01.957] [2020-06-22] [SERIE] 2060 PABD/CABD A_E65CAS.IPS Cod 364
[16:05:01.957] [2020-06-22] [SERIE] Codierung fehlerhaft (allgemein) CAS, C_C_AUFTRAG_CAS: ERROR_ECU_CONDITIONS_NOT_CORRECT_OR_REQUEST_SEQUEN CE_ERROR

[16:05:02.075] [2020-06-22] [SERIE] 2060 Error COAPI2.CPP coapiRunCabd 6
[16:05:02.075] [2020-06-22] [SERIE] Codierung fehlerhaft (allgemein) SG_CODIEREN
I tried this with the key on, and with the key out. No difference. I know changing the power class can get complicated with the newer CAS 3 modules, but from what I understand, with CAS 2 it shouldn't be too much work.

Just flashed the RSA delete as well as the Bimmerlabs stock tune file, and there is no difference. I still have 2FA4.

This forum is pretty dead I guess. So nobody has any idea how to fix this issue? I just need to delete the power class check in the tune.

Just make sure the Powerclass in the tune matches what's in your CAS.

The Bimmerlabs tunes pretty much do that but you need to pick the right files.

The power class is set to 00 on both the DME and CAS, but the tune I have for the 330i should be wert_02 or klasse_02. I flashed the Bimmerlabs stock file for my car and that's where I am now.

If I match the tune to the power class on the CAS, it won't run properly since the modules are from a 325i.

Remind me, your running a 330 tune on an MSV70? Your modules are set to a Powerclass of 0?

Pretty sure Bimmerlabs has a 330 tune option for a 325. It will be the 330 tune with the Powerclass byte changed. Your project probably needs to use a VIN from a 325 and then the custom file option will show up.

That is correct.
Gotcha, I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Well, it seems that did the trick! The car still feels a little sluggish/jerky to me taking off from a stop, but that may just be the automatic transmission. In the high end, the car feels great and the 2FA4 code is gone and has not returned.

How were you able to fix this?!?! I’m running the 328i msv80 with the stage3 manifold aa tune and bimmerlabs 330i tune on a 6spd manual before. I was not able to change the the power class to match on the cas and 6mbot to 2. Can you dm me or provide the steps to resolve this issue please!!! Thank you!

All I needed to do was download and flash the 325i to 330i tune from Bimmerlabs. No need to mess with the power class when using this method.

You won't be able to change your power class since there's a time limit on doing so.

I'm not sure if it's the same for MSV80 though. Can you see the file on Bimmerlabs for your VIN? Also, do you have any codes or other issues due to the power class mismatch?

You don't need to change the power class!! Firstly it's not even *possible - it's locked on all DMEs that have it after 10 hours (MSV70, 80, MSD80, 81, etc).

The whole point of the 330i flash is it has the power class check disabled in the first place. If you did manage to change the power class on the CAS itself, the mismatch would still cause the 2FA4 error.

* Technically, it can be done - by writing a custom program that forces the hours to 0, you can then code the DME. However, that would be fairly pointless - you still need an RSA delete for that, and you need an RSA delete to flash a custom file, which you want to do anyway - so just ignore the power class altogether and flash the custom file.

Just for clarification on my last post, I was referring to the 330i tune being available for MSV80. Not if its power class can be changed.

Yeah, sorry - I wasn't responding to your post. But yes, there's a file for the 328i that works the same way. MSV80, MSD80, and MSD81 are all fundamentally based on MSV70 and work in the same basic ways.

Ah, that makes sense. I figured there had to be something for the newer cars.

Will the 2FA4 error code due to mismatch cause any less power with the 330i tune?

It puts it in limp mode. It will have even less power than a stock 328i.

Are these tune files still up on Bimmerlabs? Having the same problem and never found them, tried many VINs.

Yup, still shows up for me. Use a 325i VIN and you should be able to see an option for "MSV70_S7623406_325i_to_330i.0da".

So I can use the msv70 330i file on a msv80 to change the power class to werk2?

No, you won't be able to use an MSV70 file on MSV80.

With flashing the 330 bimmerlabs tune. What is the correct power class setting for both the cas and 6mbot for it to be disabled?

For anyone that has this issue, I fixed it through resetting the module 6bmot in ncs expert, reflashing RSA and tune and it worked fine after that.
