so i replaced my downpipes last weekend and one of the o2 sensors was stripped so i ahve been running without it all week. the one that stripped is the one on the passenger side lower bank 2.

my question is, has anyone replaced this without dropping the sub frame?? it is a real right fit, if its possible let me know what tools you used so i can buy them. thanks for the help in advance

DROP...it's such a strong, PITA, word. (I don't post a lot). Just search any of my posts. If my memory is correct, I "loosened" the sub-frame bolts in my '11 335ixDrive and removed the passenger side motor mount making all things w/respect to the R & R of the "down pipe" much easier.
Normally, I'm a true coward when it comes to BMW shortcuts. In other words, I spent $79.00 on a Harbor Freight motor support to prevent the motor from dropping on my head/driveway. Factually, I ended up using a floor jack in conjunction with loosening the subframe bolts to elevate my motor just enough to gain the clearance necessary to remove the motor mount.

I changed them with subframe on; it is tight but doable. Nothing really special needed, just a short 22mm spanner I think for the o2 sensor.

But if you downpipes out, why didn't you change them then? you had them in your hands... the secondary bank is just for emissions, so no biggie if not installed.

when i unscrewed it off my downpipe it stripped the thread, so since this was my daily driver ive been riding out with a plug in. im just gonna wait for my new turbos to come in and then ill put in a new one in a couple weeks, wont hurt
