Metra Press Release MOST Radio Replacement
Just saw this today. Some promising news with providing additional options when replacing Logic 7 head units while retaining all other functionality.

I actually emailed Crutchfield about this part. It sounds like they are willing to order it for you, but they won't guarantee its function since they test all their items before advertising it on their site. I am still waiting to hear from them on when they expect to officially carry it as they are an authorized Metra distributor.
Personally, I am waiting until they officially sell it. At that time I am hoping the new Kenwood units are out with wireless android auto. |

The only bad thing about this is you better have a good source unit. It takes the preamp output and converts it to digital. The idrive will still work but obviously the radio and nav wont work.

I followed up with them, but they had no additional information. They gave me the same response that they would let me know. If I get any real information I will post it. You may want to reach out to them also, if there is enough interest they may escalate it.

Well, I ended up getting a Kenwood ddx9905s with the Axxess AX-BM90122 harness. Bought the installation package that Crutchfield offered. And paid an extra $30 for them to wire the harness. I would strongly recommend it. The install went pretty easy. Two things that gave me some issue was removing the a/c controls and programming the steering wheel controls. Overall, I am very happy!

Here are a couple photos after installing my Kenwood unit. The only issue I have had with the Metra harness is does not retain warning gongs. Not sure if there will be an update for this.

One of the better mounts for and aftermarket Head Unit I have seen.
Nice Bezel. Did you have Logic 7 and how does it work with the adapter? Avin released and L7 adapter it only uses the Front channel to feed the amp . It looks like this would limit tuneabilty . |

The bezel came from Crutchfield. There isn't much to it. It looks a lot better installed than it did out of the packaging.
Yea, I have the upgraded L7 sound system. It sounds just as good as before. You still have all the equalizer settings, but you do lose the ability to fade sound from the front to the rear. Here is a picture of the harness with the prewiring done by Crutchfield. I highly recommend paying them to do the wiring as there are a few components that make it up. The box at the bottom right of the picture is where the fiber optic cable feeds to from the car. |

Nice. Saw similar kit mounts on ebay — glad someone is finally making a set that doesn't look like a cheap 90's honda retrofit.
I believe there is a way to bring back gongs via a second accessory unit. Not sure if it was by Pac or Metra. However, they also may change the gong sound as iirc it's just a mimicker that taps into the right output. |

Wow, this is a great product. I've been waiting for years for something like this, I was almost sure nothing would ever happen given that his platform is getting older.

Trainwreckor Seems like yours isnt flush at the bottom. Do you have more pics of how flush it is at the bottom? per the instructions for the bezel it says to trim the AC controls. Look at the attached pdf page 2. https://pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/Im...003BMWK320.PDF
i'm wondering if you trim the aC controls like in page 2 if it would be more flush. Thanks much. |

I don't currently have any of that type of data available on my head unit. Kenwood supposedly provides that information using an iDataLink Maestro module. But of course there isn't one for BMW.

Hey guys, sorry to bump but curious if this works with the Enhanced Premium Sound system?
My CIC just died and i am thinking about getting an aftermarket head unit but wonder how this works with the navi screen and idrive. Will i still be able to use reverse parking sensors and access car settings (M drive, service intervals, notifications etc) |
