Proper Coil Spring Fitment

Im looking to replace my front springs with OEM ones. The problem is I’m getting two part numbers. One being BMW-31336769915 and the other being BMW-31336769916. Now ECS is saying the BMW-31336769915 is the correct fitment for my vehicle and FCPeuro says neither part parts my car. I spoke to somebody at ECS and they looked up the parts for my front coil springs using my VIN and nothing was coming up and said BMW said they were discontinued. Does anybody known the reason for the discrepancy?

Those are spring codes L1 or L2. They fit a 325 or 330 xi, correct? Best way to check is pull a wheel off and look for the white label on the spring. Alternatively you could call a BMW dealer with your vin. Or you could have a guess at the correct fitment based on the options on your car (more options = heavier = L2, less options = lighter = L1).

Exactly, there are MANY different springs based on engine, transmission, options etc etc. They all look the same but use different wire diameter. Best to go by the label on your current springs, or call the dealer for the part number.

The car is a 2008 328xi. I emailed World BMW Parts and ECS and they both confirmed the part based off of my vin number was BMW Part #33536769916. This part number is listed on FCPeuro, but it’s stated that it is not a correct fitment for my car. I’m gonna trust the first two responses I get, but I’d like to wait and see what FCPeuro has to say in response.

Might pull a wheel off this weekend. I had a rear spring crack so I’m getting the rear springs replaced and figure I might as well do the front springs also. I have a set of Bilstein B4s at home with all the other components and I’d rather do the springs all at once. ECS has Sachs springs for 75 a pop compared to Genuine BMW at over $150 a pop so I’m hoping the part numbers are accurate.
