How can you get to the rear turbo downpipe to mid pipe top bolt without removing the other downpipe first?

EDIT: Old post, thought I'd update after finding it. My issue was that my wrench shaft was to thick to slide between the 2 pipes and counterhold the nut. I had to grind the sides of my wrench down to slim it a bit.

I use a 6" extension on the ratchet, and use a wrench on the opposite side. Works great for me .

I'm doing this job this past weekend and holy what a bear it is. It's not hard just time consuming there is a a lot to do to get these off and back on the car. For me, lower exhaust flange bolts were rusted/seized. Penetrating oil worked a little but not much.

In the new modern era of youtube there are a lot more alternative opinions on how to do things, including how to use washers:

(this looks wrong, washer should go together with locking washer on the nut side)
vs
(different hardware with washer integrated to nut)

OEM hardware uses redddish (copper?) nuts with integrated washers.

san40k LOL. Nice catch. Yeah he for sure got that wrong in those videos. Funny enough I sub'd to that channel for a while but then he ghosted everyone after he blew the black 335i's motor? Haven't seen much content from him.
Also, I remember reading this thread a few times when I installed my down pipes... "time required: 3hr".... yeah right. It took me over 6hrs. Nothing would come loose and the midpipe to DP bolts had to be cut off. I have nightmares.

oh, I've stopped tracking time for DP install to keep my sanity

In fact I started with M3 control arms, camber plates, front sway bar and it escalated to intercooler, charge pipe, downpipes
