^ Looks like you have a few hickory trees there....haha. I know the feeling.
Also, I removed my exhaust, gutted the SCR, and reinstalled. Definitely more turbo sound. |

Installed my intercooler kit from Dave. It's pretty tight under there, and it doesn't help when you only have ramps and a limited tool selection. Also got a P200a SES, would that be something that could pop up after the install? It doesn't seem to be a well documented code, apparently it's the swirl flap actuator? Maybe some sensor plugs need to be wiggled around...

How was that to install? I keep meaning to put a Forge on in.

Ah man. Why did you sell it? What did you replace it with? Today I picked up Carly and the adapter and used it to read/reset a few codes. Interesting app. Although not sure if the premium price is worth it. I need to play with it more.

I installed the forge pipe. If you follow the instructions it's pretty straight forward. Hard part is putting in the intercooler discharge(I took the intercooler out to drain the oil in it)

Frankly, I should have bought something bigger last January (2015) when I purchased it. I was coming from a 135i, and we had a newborn, so an E90 seemed huge.....fast forward to present, and it was cramped. If we tossed another kid into the mix we would have been basically out of room. So, I figured selling it now while the tires were fairly new, CPO was still in effect, service up to date, etc. would net me the most money. I got $23k for it.
As for what's next.....likely a 2012/2013 Nissan Xterra pro-4x. I'll drive that for a few years until my wifes Camry dies, then she'll take the Xterra and I'll move back into a sporty sedan.

Finally got around to cleaning out the Soot Collection Receptacle in my mid-exhaust. Boy can you hear the whistle now ! !
Also changed the oil and filter (Mobil 1 ESP and a Mann filter). Starting to plan my days for the suspension refresh - M3 control arms and the Bilstein B-12 pro-kit.

Last evening I pulled each wheel off, deep cleaned them, removed all the tar and crud that accumulates over the years in the crevices, then applied a liberal coat of Wheel Wax. Lastly I rotated the tires and inflated them to proper psi.
Interesting, on this morning's commute it drove great, almost like it was happy for the attention. |

Good job, Mark. I'm a detail freak (autogeek) too, and have done that twice in three years. If you haven't already, it's a great time to clean and paint your brake calipers. I painted my calipers and the rusty hubs of the rotors with black ceramic brake caliper paint.
Regarding tire pressures--I recently replaced my tires and consulted with a tire guru at the BMW Performance Center before I pulled the trigger. We discussed, among other things, widths, pressures, over/under steer. I questioned why, since the car has a 50/50 weight distribution, BMW would specify higher pressures in the rear. He smiled as if I'd just opened up his favorite subject. He agreed that all four tires on this car should have the same pressure for optimum handling. He thinks the lawyers want to ensure that if a BMW leaves the road and crashes, it does so going forward and not backward. Having lower pressure up front increases understeer tendencies. He suggested that I run 36 psi all around. |
