The OEM turbos have a 3in opening, FWIW. So most are just tapering from 3" to 2.5"

Are you grinding welds to attain polished finish? Argon backpurged? Lastly, where are they being made?

Damn, if that's true than I hope VK is mistaken, and their downpipes are 3" tapered to 2.5.

2.5" all around obviously makes no sense if the turbo opening is 3"

But I'd also be worried about losing torque with 3" end to end downpipes.

I have yet to see a single dyno with torque loss vs a more restrictive exhaust on a turbo car.

Vince!!! Stop marketing your products at this low of a price. I might go broke buying them!

Very nice welds.

From the picture, it does look like the DP starts at 3in and tapers to 2.5in

Quite the opposite.
The goal of a turbo engine is to reduce back pressure as much as possible so the more free flowing the system is the more torque you will produce.
Normally aspirated engines require backpressure to create scavenging to make more torque.

+1...I am sure Vince will clear this up.

Also not sure why people buy the "grinding welds is bad" BS...i have seen products with more critical applications having super polished grinded welds.

If the weld penetration is good (which is basically a good weld) then the process of grinding should not be a problem as long they use the right methods and take time and care to do it. Its done routinely in many industries.

The reason we say these are 2.5" and not 3" is because they open up at 3" and then taper down to a 2.5". I dont want to market these as 3" if it is going to taper down to 2.5", although I know that marketing these as 3" dp's will sound better but we try to stay away from the hype.

I was referring to your initial post where you said it would be going from 2.5" to 3" to 2.5".

Thank you! The only way to truly find out how well downpipes produce power is to have all the different dps tested on the same day/same dyno/ under the same conditions. I personally feel that you will find that the hp/tq difference will not be significant in any downpipe. What will dictate greater variances in power output is other supporting mods and tune settings.

The problem with posting hp/tq numbers and then comparing them to other venders is that every vendor uses their own testing procedures. Its very easy to manipulate numbers on a dyno.

Here are the pictures of the inside of the downpipes. As you see its very smooth.

In the last pic, you can see how the color changes to match to the golden hue of the stock exhaust.

Yeah Vince, your right. I’ll go with yours, cuz they look good, have less curves than the others, and its half the price. Am I being rash?
