Rev 9 Intercooler Ebay

I just wanted to know if anyone on here used this intercooler? I checked and there were other people using this on some other bmw and subarus (different model intercooler but same manufacturer) and they loved the fit and finish. I have one coming and will be doing the install when I receive my Fluidampr as well.

If nobody has any information on this, I can provide pictures and installation of the item. Btw on eBay it is a Best Offer item and I was able to get it for $345.00 shipped / no tax.

Both of those are knock-off wagner intercoolers. And seem pretty good...

Intercooler only really helps if you continuously push the car and heat soak starts to set in. Remind me in a few weeks and I'll let you know how one of those supersized intercoolers compares to the stock one.

I have an ATM intercooler, either that or a BFIK, otherwise you are still retaining leak prone connections

I’ve done a lot of ic swaps and logging on various cars. In general ic upgrades offer little (some times hurt) performance for the dollars spent. Basically if your looking to add performance there are better values (meth). the biggest reason some measure a performance gain initially is the new ic is clean and free of oil. Oil insulates the ic and reduces its cooling efficiency. Once the new ic fills with oil the performance differences mostly or totally disappear.

Ironically the best upgrade in this area is just cleaning the ic from time to time. It’s cheap, and will boost performance.

Now I’m not saying their aren’t circumstances where a better ic can help. Like repeated back to back pulls where you see iats constantly rising. Helping turbos pushes too far out of their efficiency range, or when the stock is a flow restriction I.e. high pressure drop.

But the only way to know if an ic upgrade is worth while is to log your iats. If in your driving scenario you see constantly rising iats it’s worth it to upgrade.

Also a bigger ic adds more lag because of the larger volume to pressurize which can hurt performance if you go too large.

keep in mind that the savings of a 'cheap' intercooler is usually in the core... it may be bigger, but if the core isn't bar/plate design it's likely not going to net you any gains vs. stock. Rev9 states bar/plate core; ALO 'brand' description doesn't state what type it is. I ran a Treadstone TR11 in my old Audi and was very pleased with it; their 335i IC would require new hoses https://www.treadstoneperformance.co...ooler-550hp-2/. I have no idea on the actual fitment for our motors. They don't use the OEM/o-ring style connection.

You get what you pay for!

+1 for the tip on periodic cleaning. "Stage 0" is the best mod of all!

Unless the intercooler is literally built by the company selling it more 90% of the time every company is buying it from the same country and etching or painting there logo on it.... all of these ebay intercoolers are from china without a middle man markup. I know people need to pay bills, but I need to also... I'm not going to pay $150+ more when the other intercooler comes off the same boat..

one has a logo one doesn't

I also want to clean mine out for the free gains!

It's like the difference between OE and OEM. One has a BMW logo, and the other doesn't. The one with the BMW logo is always much more expensive. But they're the same part.

Agreed! Treadstone intercoolers have been proven better than CX/ ebay intercoolers in back to back dyno testing on multiple platforms. They are higher quality units but reasonably priced which is why I run a 335i treadstone intercooler in my car.
