Catted Downpipe options

Looking for some options for catted DPs and ones that won't through CEL.

If you want a quality high flow catalyst you're going to need to spend money.

Pretty sure CPE catted downpipes or AR are the only ones that will pass emissions and not come apart in 9 months

Basically there's 2 options in terms of brands.

1) Cobb

2) Turner Motorsports

Both are around 750-$800.00

Catless won't blow codes if you have a tune like MHD.

Catless are a lot less expensive and will yield a lot more HP.

Catted are for those who live in "green" states like California etc.

The AR Design ones will throw a CEL, they claimed they would not and they didn't for about a year and then when they did start to throw inefficiency codes they just blamed it on BMW software being to stringent (and they stopped claiming they would not throw a code). I doubt anything much else will not throw codes after a year or 2, you are better off just going catless and running a DPfix.

AR States this NO CEL on pre 29.2 cars. Post 29.2 cars may require a DP Fix. and no car is pre 29.2 on earth anymore unless it never had a software update since 2008 but they all did to fix HPFP issues.

Some people do find the catless ones a bit raspy though so the hi flow cats help with that.

Thanks guys... I am trying to avoid rasp and droning. Any cat less that minimize both?

Also, I did see VRSF had a catted version. Wondering if theirs compares to COBB and CP-E

Just for longevity/emissions info...I've had CP-E catted for about 6.5 years now. No issues and pass emissions every year without issue.

Well, if emissions aren't an issue, just remove the secondary cats and put vibrant 1792 resonators in their place.

No drone or rasp will occur

There is not a downpipe that guarantees no CEL, but we had the most luck with AR Design.

That being said unless EPA approved, all downpipe are illegal (even if they do not throw a CEL)

How's the sound on your CP-E catted downpipes? Did you pair it with stock exhaust?

The AR Design would likely be one of the better options but doesn't guarantee CEL Free operation.

If ur getting downpipes, ur must likely will want to get a tune in order to full the potential power out of it so most tunes in general will hide the CEL.

Yep, paired with stock exhaust and really just sounds like a throatier stock exhaust with no drone or rasp.
