Cruise Control, Traction Control - Very Strange
Hi, so I have a non iDrive 2007 E92. It's developed a rather strange habit -
The Cruise Control is usually (but not 100% of the time)either jerky or speeds up on it's own, this seems to happen around 5/10 mins into a drive, where it had been behaving normally, and once it's started it doesn't stop being silly until the next drive. The Traction Control light comes on at all speeds for no particular reason from the get go. It will flash without any consequence now and then from the moment I set off but after a while it will yearn for more attention and slow the car down now and then to the point of eventually, but not immediately after the car stuttering/slowing down, losing power completely. This would stop the car, which is fun on the motorway. I can counter this by switching the traction control off completely and continuing my journey without incident. Twice after I've done this the ABS warning light will come on, after around 5/10 mins of driving but this seemed to be a random event on one journey. Obviously once the traction control is off, the cruise control doesn't work, which isn't ideal. The car has been checked over for its MOT, the OS front shock is leaking but not broken and passed the MOT, when the NS shock needed replacing. The tracking and wheel alignment has been checked, tyres are ok and inflated correctly. Any thoughts would be appreciated. BMW have said something about a ring expanding around the rear axel but that it's not particularly economical to check and then fix. |

So upon further driving, I do think the sensor comes on when the car is turning slightly, I'm don't think it comes on in a straight line. It may do that after coming on in a slight turn (these are lane changing turns not hairpin turns) but the very slight change of direction seems to trigger it.
