Change DRLs without removing wheel liner? E92 LCI
I have an ‘11 E92 with the adaptive xenons, and my drivers side DRLs have been out for some time. I’ve taken the car to BMW and they want me to replace the whole unit, and I don’t have the space or the tools required to jack my car up, remove wheel, etc etc. So with this being said, am I SOL for replacing my bulb? Every time I get in the car I get the “Left DRL” error and it drives me crazy. TIA

It takes 5 minutes to pull the wheel off and then remove the liner. just do it the right way. If the headlight bulbs are original I would tell you to just replace those too while in there.

I just installed a set of Lux bulbs on my Pre-LCI E92 and simply took the lid off the unit up top. A standard screwdriver will get the lid off, unscrew the bulb, disconnect the electrical connection then reverse the steps. The space is small and I had to maneuver the bulb so it slide into place but it was the easiest approach. I watched a couple YouTube videos, read the instructions and was good to go.

2011+ e92 uses an led module for DRL.
You need to replace the module. You can remove the fender liner by moving the steering wheel around while it’s on the ground. 1/4” ratchet with an 8mm socket and just move the wheel around to access all the bolts. It’s a pain but doable. |
