My understanding is that the rattle is an under lying issue. Doing the rod will mask it but it will return as they are failing. Why not just use software to remove it ? I used the JB4 and it worked well.

For anyone looking for a TEMPORARY fix for wastegate rattle on their N54 AFTER trying all proper methods (vacuum lines, etc), refer to this thread I just made. Made all my rattle go away for $3.40 and 30 seconds of my time.

Props to Ameer666 for being such a great guy offered to help me but ended up goign to my mechanic for this since i was installing my downpipes. Adjusted rod about 3 1/2 times no more rattle cant believe this worked.

The nut was super rusted had to blowtorch it to loosen it, took quite a while but got it done with the wrenches. Lets hope the rattle doesn't come back.

Can anyone who's done this report back on whether or not your rattle came back?

Adjusting the rod seems to have helped drastically and is holding up 6+ months.

If you need the borrow the wrenches and are in the Toronto GTA let me know.

I have the rattle on acceleration only instead. On a RHD car the steering column is in the way so this cannot be reached from top down, also very difficult if not impossible to reach from underneath the car as well.

Ohh, I would like to borrow the wrenches! I'll be doing some major overhauling this spring to the bmw. I would love it if that rattle went away
