Post Advice / Help

Have an e90 that smells like burning oil. Changed the VCG a few months ago. There seems to be a some oil in the drivers side of the engine. Any ideas of what it could be?

What model E90? Is the oil burning smell coming from the exhaust or hood?

If it's on the drivers side, likely OFHG leaking.

Hopefully it smells like "vaporizing oil" and NOT "burning oil" or you need to make a comprehensive insurance coverage claim instead of repair.

We can ONLY guess WITHOUT photos of:
1) OFH, front & rear;
2) Periphery of VC, particularly over the exhaust manifolds.

Is there visible oil smoke at any time (particularly when engine fully-warm), and if so, from what part of the engine (most likely @ exhaust manifold)?

Hi, George

Currently there is no visible smoke in any areas of the car. Took it on a bit of drive yesterday to see if the smell would come around again.... so far there is none, but I will likely get the OFH checked... thanks for your response!
