Hello everybody! Today was the first day, after a 4 month turbo replacement and upgrade journey, that I got to run my car at full boost with no JB4 safety map. It felt great, until I analyzed my logs. The ambient temperature was 88 degrees and my IAT peaked and hovered around 188 degrees during a 3 gear pull, shifting at 5900 rpm (15PSI target). I'm looking to upgrade my intercooler ASAP, but I need to know what would be necessary to keep my IAT's reasonable. I have FBO except for the intercooler, so it's time for it to be replaced with my power levels and the car's age (123K). Does anyone have any advice on what size or brand I should choose? Thanks.

Would there be any side effects of running such a large intercooler on 15 psi? Most of these intercooler are rated for higher power than what I would be running.

As long as it’s a quality unit there will be no issues. The amount of lag you’d gain won’t be discernible.

Can anyone here attest to the quality of the VRSF, more specifically where it's fabricated? I can see the temperature logs on their website, but so far haven't been able to find pressure testing, mechanical explanations for their design, or where the product is made. Thanks.

Get the VRSF Race IC and be done with it. Spend the money once and get the best IC on the market. It powers most of the high HP N54s around. Tiago is also super easy to work with or order through mike@x-ph.com.

Hey there, just wanted to update y'all. I ordered the 7.5 race intercooler from VRSF and it is expected to arrive this Saturday. Once I have it installed, I shall upload logs and give y'all another update. Thanks.

Sorry y'all, forgot to give an update. The intercooler is in and seems to work pretty well. Temps drop when I accelerate and sit lower while cruising. My one complaint is the size/fitment of the intercooler because it pushes down and out on the front lip of the bumper. Is it time to get a new bumper with a wider front aero area, or is this something else I can do to remedy this. I still have the stock bumper.

I am a bit surprised that no one has mentioned that proper ducting of IC is crucial. Have you noticed how tightly the oem IC is surrounded with plastic/rubber seals to ensure that all incoming/pulled air gets through the core?
Trimming of space to fit the new IC should take this in account, perhaps to seal it afterwards would not hurt either. It is the same when setting an aftermarket oil cooler, sticking it in front the water cooler obviously has not worked for some... I bet from the very same reason - air finds the least resistance to pass, goes around it instead of through it.

I've heard iffy things about BMS because it's really just a rebranded intercooler from Phoenix racing, but I've heard some iffy things about VRSF too. I think that VRSF has just done well at maintaining notoriety for having intercoolers that perform like they were intended.
