And we're back!!!! Ok, so here is the latest. Newport on the Levee is working on more spaces in the main lot area, but I have now contacted the City of Newport and the Police Department and they are working with me to secure more space in and around the immediate area. Because the event is growing so large, we need to submit a special events applictaion to the City of Newport (and a bunch of other stuff...insurance info, etc.), and hopefully it will then be full steam ahead!

Let's get the word out guys and girls and make this a great event!!!

Anyone connected on other boards/sites? I would love to get the word out to the M5, M6, 5 series, 6 series, X series, and others (older BMW's, 8 series, 3 series, etc.). Ideas on reaching some of these folks in the Cincy, Dayton, Columbus, Louisville, Lexington, Indianapolis areas??

Also of note, I have been in contact with the editor from Roundel magazine and they may be around for this event (taking photos and doing a story for one of their upcoming issues). Also the editor for BMW Performance informed me that if we wite an article and send some good photos that they will publish our event as well!! So the good news keeps coming!

Get the word out and get more people to sign up.

Also of note, betond the Roundel and BMW Performance Magzine stuff...EuroCharged has some potential in this event, and I think and hope that it can happen. Anyways, EuroCharged (www.eurocharged.com) has told me that they would potentially be willing to bring their rolling dyno down if they can get enough committments for tuning that day. If you are interested in getting you car tuned, please PM me and I can get you the pricing and info that they shared with me that they would be willing to do for that day. EuroCharged posted in this thread so hit them up (PM them, call them or e-mail them) and let's get them down here! Even though this would be a logistical nightmare, it is one in which I would be willing to tackle if we can get 5-10 total people willing to get their cars tuned. That would also allow for some to also get their cars dyno'd that day as well!??! This would be really cool, not too mention, they may even bring some of their EuroCharged girls if you guys start asking them and getting on their good side!! Pics from the Chicago HIN are pretty sweet...check them out!

Continue to spread the word, with BMW's you see or pass, on forums (hit them all) and anyone else we can think of! We will soon have flyers, and maybe even a website dedicated to Bimmer Festivus!?!? Thanks everyone, I am getting more and more excited...if you couldn't tell!

its the bimmer fest..... in Ohio. No offense but I can't even imagine driving 8+ hours for a 1/2 day meet. Most of the stuff you guys are gonna have is already in Chicago anyway so it doesn't make much sense for all the Chicago area guys to drive 8-10 hrs to be there for something that is usually a 30 min drive away. I'm not hatin on Ohio or anyone around there but, we have meets in Chicago like once or twice a month... some times only 5-10 peeps, sometimes 30-40. I can totally understand this being appealing and worth a few hr drive if you live in like KY or something and don't have many members around to organize regular meets but... in Chicago its just kinda like, we do this all the time so why drive so far to do it in a different state ya know? If you guys wanted to come to Chicago that'd be fine, you're more than welcome at any of our meets.. but the furthest anyone has ever driven was MI330xi from Lansing Michigan... or me from Madison (which I do like twice a month). We don't see you guys from out there for the same reason you probably won't see us there... its too long of a drive for just a meet.

Now if you told me we had Cedar Point rented out, I'd personally make sure there was a 50 car caravan from Chicago with me leading it there.

Until then, good luck with you meet, I'm excited to see the pix and say wussup to my guys over at Eurocharged if they make it out (they sponsored me in Chicago HIN this year). Ask them to bring some of the models with too

Just to clarify, before the people at BimmerFest get up in arms...this is NOT BimmerFest, this event is in no way associated with BimmerFest.

This event was named Bimmer Festivus (which is being legally given to our group by the state of Ohio). This was done to give us the ability to have an event, call it something fun (by the way that name was made up by one of our's at our last event, making reference to a Seinfeld episode) and not have it in any way be associated with BimmerFest. Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Udubadger...I completely understand. I know you guys do some really kick ass events in Chicago and we just wanted to get the word out to you guys in the event that there would be any interest...I didn't want to leave you guys out. Who knows maybe the Cedar Point thing or something along those lines is not out of the cards for the future, something we should discuss, drawing people from all over? Loved the HIN pics and am really hoping EuroCharged can make the trip, it would be great to show people some different tuning methods and pimp their goods. Would love it if they brought a few of the ladies !

Understandable. Just for the record though it's not 8-10 hours from Chicago...more like 5-6 tops.

I still realize it may be a bit too far for some people to drive for one day, much less a Sunday when everyone likely has work the next morning. This is going to be a pretty big event though, numberwise.

Check the info under my avatar... I'm coming from Madison so I automatically have to add 2-3 hrs extra to my trip.

Plus it really is about 8 hrs from Chicago, you have to figure in traffic getting through the city, plus stops along the way for food and gas. I dropped my buddy off at U of Dayton a few years back for school and it took us about 6.5 from the burbs

I drove from downtown Chicago to Dayton 4 days after 9/11 and I think it was 5-6h. I rented a Mustang for the trip. If I had it to do over I probably would have rented a Lincoln. A base model Mustang isn't so exciting to drive strait and steady on the highway for 5h. Not to split hairs with you, but Mapquest says Chicago to Newport is 4:57. Throw in a little extra for traffic, food and bathroom.
