Ok, so I've had my car for just little over a week and then noticed this little issue with the side mirror. After parking up and possibly locking the car, the mirrors tilt to a real weird position. Initially, I thought the mirrors had the function to fold inwards and possibly having problems with the motor but I don't think that's the case.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Might I add that it seems its just the drivers side mirror. Could be wrong.

Yes I do have memory seats. Would never have thought they had anything to do with the side mirrors, will check that out. Thanks.

Key memory/settings? Try locking with the other key?

BMW mirrors do not auto fold in (like MB); there's a little button near the mirror adjust.

Maybe also try "re-saving" the memory position and mirror settings.

Thanks, will give that a go as well. I suppose it might be a good idea to try and read the manual.

I had this issue. Followed the above fix.

The contacts on the connector on the mirror motor build up corrosion. A quick rub of the contacts and the application of dielectric grease to keep moisture out sorted my issue.

Very easy to do.

Remove mirror glass and then remove one screw that holds the motor in place, pull the motor straight out and clean contacts on the motor unit itself.

Problem solved..

Same here had the drivers mirror go into a random position every time I locked the car, cleaned the connections to the motor and all good now
Very easy to do 10/15 min

Thanks for the response. I'll try that after I get some dielectric grease.

Just in case you don't want to try dismantling the motor and would prefer to replace it (from ebay, lets say) you can use your mirror and back case and buy only the skeleton mirror, around 100 bucks on ebay. Here's a video that shows how to stop the mirror from folding outwards every time you lock/unlock your car, until you've bought a replacement.
