My 2011 335i has been struggling with long cranks for as long as I can remember. I replaced the LPFP, HPFP, sparks/coils etc. Everythjng except for the injectors pretty much. Everytime I would retune the car, the problem would go away for a few starts then come back. I’ve had the 2BDE & 2BFO shadow codes persisting as well. As per previous thread resolutions for the same issue, I ordered the fuel pressure regulator from FCP: VDO-228242005002Z BMW Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Regulator Repair Kit - VDO 16117163295

Installation wasn’t too bad. Just requires patience. I had to step away a few times in order to avoid damaging anything because of frustration. I did rent the spanner wrench kit from AutoZone which helped with instal. I didn’t have any fuel smell coming from my backseats, which is a cormorbid issue.

Wow. My car starts up right away, everytime. My throttle is significantly more responsive, which fixed my timing issue when changing gears. My car doesn’t bog anymore when I let off the throttle. No more shadow codes.

Hope this convinces some of you to do the repair.
Cheers.

This is really useful feedback, thank you.

I have suffered with frequent, but not regular, long cranks that are not predictable on my N55 E92 335i. I also feel that my car is slower and less economical than it was when I bought it.

I have not had codes when scanning with BimmerLink. However, I recently purchased a licence for and installed MHD and have seen shadow codes 2BDE and 2BF0 for the first time. I will try some monitoring through MHD, but will keep this in mind!

Following on from my post above I installed Stage 1 MHD and all seemed well until I had an EML pop on. this cleared after restarting the car. A further code scan has revealed:

Quote:
- DME active codes -
2C01 - High pressure fuel, plausibility Pressure too low.
387F - Power management: Standby current violation.

- DME shadow (inactive) codes -
2BDE Fuel high pressure on enabling of injection: pressure too low
I have sent an MHD log out where someone has identified a boost leak and also the HPFP pump on its way out. Looks like I need a good smoke test and a replacement HPFP.

I had replaced my HPFP and boost solenoid but the codes persisted. The fuel pressure regulator is much cheaper than the HPFP so I would cross it out first.

Thanks that is really useful further feedback. For absolute clarity you replaced part 2 as per this link for my car?

This is what I bought. You will need to rent a spanner wrench from your local auto store for the job.

Thank you. I think I will get this done as well as the HPFP to attempt to address the issues with my car!

Over the weekend I had the following parts replaced on my car:

HPFP: 13517616170
LPFP: 16117197076
LPFP filter/regulator: 16117163295

I've done a few journeys since; starts are now instant and the shadow codes 2BDE and 2BF0 have gone. Thanks for the tip on these parts!

The only thing that wasn't replaced was the high pressure sensor. I need to get this done, as a new code and EML popped up for this part. It has not come back since clearing, but I have noticed some slightly strange behaviour when at light part throttle and there's noticeable vibration at idle.

Happy to hear the good news. It’s a great feeling when she starts right up, every time.

It really is. I'm not sure any car I have had has started as well as mine does now.

Now I really need to get the sensor replaced and the air leaks fixed, as the car is really not happy.

How have you found the B14 kit? I ran the B12 on my E81 130i, which was decent.
