Yeah I will post here after I go through a couple revisions to let everyone know how it is going

Not yet. Took a few days back and forth to get the paperwork going and now my paypal payment has been pending for the past 7 days so he hasn't received it yet. My mistake for not attaching a credit card to my paypal account which is instant. Paying through a checking account takes 3-6 business days.

Once payment goes through and I go through a revision or two I will update.

Oh that sucks. Cool thanks for the update, once the weather warms up a bit I'm going to be getting retuned myself.

Hmm that's odd. Have you checked the fuel pump?

Tried out the base tune. Idle is much smoother and cruising feels WAY better. For logging, he wants just a 2500 - 4000 rpm 4th gear pull to determine if the gas being used is good before going higher in the rev range. During the log my car went into limp mode with reduced power and caused a 2C57 code. This is a popular code with the JB4. No boost leaks or anything but I was 5 psi under target with throttle closure. Car didn't like the base tune at WOT but this will be worked out. I flashed back to the wedge tune did the same log - everything was normal. Just waiting to hear back. Haven't heard from him since Monday. I am not one to send email after email looking for updates so I will report back again once we get through another revision or two.

Awesome thanks for the update. I would rather wait for a revision, than get one within 24 hours that sucks.

Man, I hate doing those redline 4th gear pulls. 140+ mph wot on the crappy roads around here is pretty sketchy. I'm not an xi and sometimes I see rpm spikes in my logs well over 120 mph where I'm losing traction.

My car has been down a while and have been traveling the past 3 weekends so haven't had time to work on the car. Intercooler hose came off so waited for a replacement. During that install I broke the upper radiator coolant hose so I need to get that repaired. New upper radiator hose and coolant expansion tank feed hose going in tonight. Planning on getting the newest revision logged tonight as well.

JK. I got the new hoses installed and one of the hoses isn't sealing to the new upper radiator hose. I am looking for a thicker oring and have another upper radiator hose ordered as back up that comes in on Monday.

That sucks, I know how it goes. Mine is currently down also, looks like this weekend or next I'll be pulling the valve cover and doing the valvetronic motor. It started clicking right after I took it out of storage

I've noticed a trend where these things sit unused for a few months and boom valvetronic motor goes bad.

Getting back to it. Everything is buttoned up. Currently on Rev 5. Still getting a slight over boost which is cutting throttle. Haven't taken it past 4500 rpm yet since we are still dialing it in before we push it. First impressions are good though. He has been describing what he is changing in each revision which is something I never got before. So far though, I definitely recommend going with David Shoup if you are looking for a new tune. I mentioned it before too that cold starts and idle are much better - No more stalling.

Good to hear. Describing the changes with each revision, that must be nice.

Jeez man even though it's not final, that log looks way better than anything I got out of wedge.

I don't even think we have really turned it up yet. Still working out a few things. On Rev 8 now.

Does he use the throttle plate to control load? I typically see throttle position at 100% and throttle closure only used as a failsafe if engine load exceeds target. Interesting.

No clue to be honest.

If you are still doing revisions, could you ask? It would be good information to have.

N55 has valvetronic to control engine load/air flow but I do not think many tuners fully understand how the tables work and its mostly guess and check. It makes sense why people have idle issues and part throttle issues with a lot of n55e tunes.

Your tuner seems to have ditched using valvetronic control and instead is using the throttle butterfly similar to how a n54 tune would be done.

I'll find out. I'll let you know once I hear back.

Sounds like HPFP to me, had the same issues and a weird lurching issue when I gave the car power. Might want to keep an eye on o2's specifically pre-cat as well. I've been chasing lean codes / fueling issues for ~ a year now and have seen every type of wack ass fuel code.

Did you get finished up with shoup? Im ready to get my e40 tune with either shoup, pure boost or doc vu. I'm still torn on which way to go.

On a side note the updated ots stage 2+ 91 tune can handle a FBO ps1 car, it just keeps the wgdc very low.

Negative. Some weird things going on with my car. My car isn't liking any timing increase he is giving me. Boost is perfect but as soon as he increases timing, I start getting crazy timing corrections. It is acting like my car is running on 87 octane. I am getting my car in the shop on Thursday for an oil change and to cut open the oil filter to see if there is anything in it. He is worried I got knock from rod bearings being worn.

Currently running the car without meth on a stock timing tune until we can determine what is going on. very little timing corrections with barely any timing added
