Ebay angel eye bulbs preliminary review (now updated with daytime pics)

A couple of weeks ago I posted speculating on the difference between the cheaper 100ish bulbs sold by vendors on here and the 250ish Lux product.

Thread

Someone mentioned a friend had purchased these ebay bulbs and was pleased with them.

Ebay bulbs

I could not resist the price as despite the excellent Lux product and customer service I could not justify over 200 dollars for angel eye bulbs. I ordered them last week and received them in less than a week. I finally got them installed today and they look great. Very white and significantly brighter than the GP thunders.

So far no errors have been generated. They appear to be a quailty product. We shall see how they last but their construction reveals that they are a mass produced item from China that someone must be selling quite a lot of so I have high hopes for their performance. They are exactly as they appear in the pictures on ebay.

It is 35 degrees and pouring rain out so pictures will have to wait until this weekend. I'll post up pics and then follow up my review in a few months or sooner if I have problems.

See pictures I posted in a reply below but my recommendation is NOT to buy these based solely on their looks. They have caused no errors thus far and were only 69 dollars but brightness is below my expectations and they don't fade out.

I am in the same boat, I just cant spend 200 bucks on a pair of lux. Im always afraid of the ebay bulbs sending out errors. Very interested in seeing the photos!!

i think CREE is an actual brand that many use here on the forums. Search CREE, i believe there's quite a few reviews on it

Look for a seller that has sold a lot and with good ratings. Also find the one with the best return/warranty policy.

I think I mentioned in your last thread that I had ordered my AEs from BMS. total came out to be $103. Dunno if they are the same thing sold on Ebay, but I felt a little better buying them from a vendor here than on Ebay. Either way, I wanted to install this weekend but I think we get rain and snow in NYC. I'll definitely post up pics once I do install them.

eBay bulbs are cheaper usually but I prefer going through a vendor here for warranty purposes. There is one thing to keep note of..be aware what the warranty is through the vendor. Underground Euros will not honor the warranty unless you get professional installation and they want you to pay shipping both ways which I found out when I bought their interior light kit and a led was dimmer than the rest. I went and bought my AE leds from Sonic Tuning after.

I used to have BMS AE and also a few friends, not happy at all you hardly can see see the outer rings. I took them out within a week and got some off e92 lighting. Much better compared to the BMS

Here are a few outdoor bright sunlight pictures...I'll try to snap some night pictures this evening.

While these are brighter than GP Thunders they are not as bright as some pictures make the more expensive lights look. I know the angle makes a big difference on these lights but still they don't seem particularly bright. I suspect the stock yellow halogen bubls are brighter.

Also, these don't fade out, they just go off....for some reason I don't really like that much.

Overall I would probably recommend trying some of the 100ish lights from a vendor over these, especially if they fade out when going off.

I have an E90. My understanding is that the issue with lighting the outer ring is more specific to E92/93s? So I'm hoping not to encounter any problems with these once installed. Rain + ups not delivering my fogs on the weekends kept me from install. But I'll post when I do.

I'm very interested in the night shots, since Im not overly concerned with daytime function. No intent on using as DRLs...
