Meet
Anyone down to meet this week? I know of no car meets anymore so would be willing to meet with local BMW owners.

I live right off the 410 and Jackson Keller area. 2008 Tiag 335 M Sport. Idk if anyone has seen me driving around San Antonio but I'm always on the road and have seen only a select few of modded or nice BMWs.

I never see modded BMW's in San Antonio. Which is a good thing..we stand out..
I'm out of town now. I'm still rubbing. He knows what he's doing...he just didn't pull it enough...I'll give a final review when it's complete...

Need to do something....we're dead on this issue so far...
I'm out of town right now. I have to get the guy to come back over and roll my fenders some more....He's really good. He comes to your house....has all the tools (heat gun), very professional and is fair on price I think.

Sweet. I work on Kelly. I'll be looking out. Shit, we're starting to get a few on here now.....if we could actually ever get a meet together...unless it's already happened..
I'll be back in town this week....I want to hit up cars and coffee next weekend for sure... Dude, BTW...you bought your BMW over there, right...and your Q5? You know you have to pay taxes on that shit when you come here? But guess what....I can help you out with that.....unless the hole in the system has been fixed. If what I said is news to you...pm me...

Hi Guys,
I recently bought a 2007 335i and have a jb4 waiting for me to pick up at the post office tomorrow. I wondered if anyone here would mind giving me a hand on the install? I doesn't look too difficult but I would appreciate any help if someone here has already put one on their car. Thanks in advance! PS ---I normally go to cars and coffee, but I would always drive my twin turbo 300zx there and hang out with the Z car club guys. If I go next weekend it will be in the 335i and it would be great to meet some of you. |

Gizmo,
What taxes will I have to pay? Some kind of luxury tax or something? I shouldn't have to pay a sales tax as the purchase will be nearly two years old at that point... I thought you were only required to pay a sales tax if it was purchased under 6 months. Also, my permanent home of record is New Hampshire, and driver's license through Virginia... so I won't even be a Texas resident. Let me know about the loop hole.

OK...the whole time frame thing does not exempt you at all from sales tax on new registration in Texas. If you register a car in this state, and you can not show you paid taxes on it already from wherever else, you have to pay sales tax on the current value of the car.
What you need to do is on the first form you get (can't remember what the number of the form is), put a check in the "New resident" box. This is not supposed to get you out of it. But for some reason, it does when you up to the desk. Just do this and don't say anything about where you bought it, etc. Trust me if you argue about it or bring it up, you will lose. I can tell you my story when you get here. I know plenty of people who brought their car here after buying it overseas and had to pay the sales tax. But everyone that I know that checked that box didn't. I can't believe this isn't briefed over there. I found out right before I left. And I shipped the 335 and a new C350. So I was gonna have to fork out almost $5K. Thank God I didn't. I had it saved up. And I would suggest you at least be prepared. 300ZX....I have a pretty busy day. I just got back from a trip but let me see if maybe we could do this this evening.

Hi Gizmo,
That's cool. I'm questioning if I can even pick up the jb4 today. The Boerne mail system is a joke and don't know where my package is, despite the tracking number lol. If I can get it later, then tomorrow would be a better day for me. If not, maybe next week after cars and coffee if you have the time. I'm in no rush, still have about 1 year left on the cpo warranty and that's why I want to make very sure when I do this I don't nick up too many pieces. I'll probably do 1 more post in this thread to get to 5 posts and hopefully be able to PM soon... |

Hey Gizmo,
gotta love the USPS, they have no clue where my jb4 is....I was told to try to flag down my mail carrier or call a number next Tuesday. Hopefully "I" can track down my own mail. If you wanna have a good laugh look at the reviews of the Boerne post office and the comments... Anyway, assuming I can track it down this week can you carve out a little time for me next weekend? Thanks! |
