Huge snorkel leading to dci. Then a heat shield connected to that with options for one sided, two, three, or completely enclosed box around the dci depending upon the look your going for. I personally have found that a more enclosed box is not the best way. A heat shield separating the dci from the engine is best. This is all using the bms dci. Specifically designed intakes might do well with an enclosed box of course I dont know about those. None of this is professional testing or anything. Just me doing my thing. Its all black, using pop rivets instead of nuts and bolts. Could be made any color. Its gonna catch on real quick!! People are really bugging me about it, lol. So I hope to have an official release thread within a day or so.

Another option is to wait for the BMW Performance intake. It's coming one day...

I'm still on the stock airbox, the fact that you have to remove the bumper to change the filter is a showstopper for me. So beside the Gruppe-M intake ( where I don't know whether it will fit with Forge DV's ) and it's high price-tag there is still nothing around I like to use on my car and I really need a better intake boosting up to 15psi. So the waiting for the BMW performance intake continues ...

My original thought was that although significant changes in VE are best managed with a new tune, I doubt a CAI would cause such a change. A cooler air mass alone would be unlikely to result in higher boost unless ECU boost limits are temperature based. (They might be - I just don't know the details) You'd see a torque increase a given boost level with a cooler charge because there would be more O2 molecules available to mix with fuel. The ECU would know there is more air available and add more fuel => more available power without a new tune. Hope this helps. Dan |
