The adaptation is a lot better if you're going through the gears often.. do a lot of city driving for example in the 40-50miles

Hey guys,

I recently changed my K+DCAN cable and now I cannot get it to work with xhp flashtool. It gives me the following error :

initialization error can't communicate with inpa cable

The cable is the exact same as my previous one, it’s just new. I made sure I have enough battery on the phone and on the car, but still it doesn’t want to “communicate” to the app.

What could be wrong?

Looking like the old one does not mean it has the same chip inside, try with another cable or check the OTG cable with the phone, they fail more often than you think

Got 80 miles in and opened up today .....all I can say is wow it really did complete the car for me . It makes the tune feel way more responsive and it definitely must sound different outside the car people are turning heads like crazy when I get on it . I can’t seem to stay outta S/M mode even though D is extremely better than before. Was wondering if anyone had issues with trans temps do to the changes? I’m in SoCal and the summers can get hot

I haven't seen trans temps over 200 yet. Usually 175-185. It seems cooler than stock before both trans and engine tune. I'd say you're fine.

I was planning on a bms cooler but unless I see something that indicates it gets too hot, I'll pass until it gets put on the track.

@RBT-Tuning

Flashed my car back to standard torque reduction values and shift speeds, after a day of driving these numbers are still the same.

is there a way to hard reset these or is this just a learned value based on fluid age/wear?

Those are values based on the actual wear on your transmission/clutches as far as I know.

post shift RPM spike / slow shifts in meat of midrange torque

On the "going through the gear"s logs, where the car upshifts in the meat of the mid range torque the shifts are slower than if I shift at the top of the RPM band and there is a slight RPM spike after it gets into the next gear. We see the DME hold off on fully ramping the timing back up fully until the RPM spike settles which is probably a good thing for the tranny. Whereas if I upshift at the top of the RPM band the shift is a lot quicker and there is no post shift RPM spike

Is this expected behavior? Possibly indicative of the tranny being worn out? Maybe I should increase the 2 --> 3 and 3 - > 4 upshift sliders in Xhp so it upshifts higher in the RPM band to prevent this? Maybe something engine tuning can help with?

Car has 83K miles on it. Put new tranny fluid and mechatronics seal in it around 75K miles Screenshot of adaptation values included too.

mfish123 those are exactly my experiences also and my 'numbers' on the adaption screen are also way off like yours, i'm betting wear.

I'd love for RBT-Tuning to pop in and give some insight on this

TypeDre I read some of your posts. Sounds like similar issues. Unfortunately I have a feeling it is wear. I think my clutch E quickcharge time is even higher than yours. I don't beat the crap out of my car but I'm sure in the older days all kinds of weird load to torque tables were flashed on my car - ran through several custom tuners with a Cobb, before the community really figured things out when Mhd rolled out. And I ran some of those alternative OEM "sport" flashes (besides Alpina) that probably should have never been flashed on a 335i which probably doesn't help either.

But it sounds like moving the torque reductions slider to the right can help so I'll try that and hopefully RBT chimes in with some expert feedback too.

I was running alpina flash for about 5 years now. I really hated D mode. My car has 90k miles, never serviced ATF, car always shifted smooth. I'll be doing a full service tomorrow though.

Today I flashed my car to stage 3 XHP, drove around town lightly on D mode. First impressions are that it shifts in higher RPM which is nice but feels a bit harsh. Not too noticeable but not as smooth as alpina was. I describe it as a somewhat harsher transition into gears.. I only drove it 10 miles so far. XHP recommends 50 for the transmission to fully adapt.

My question is, will the transmission get smoother after it fully adapts or is stage 3 always this aggressive??

I'd wait for some adaptation time. Mine absolutely butter smooth in drive, I have to watch the cluster to know when it shifts.

The shifts only feel like something in drive when wide open or in sport/manual.
