Hello fellow e90post users, my name is John (some of you might know me as Jz) and I am now an official sponsor of e90post with Evolution Racewerks.

For those of you that are familiar with our products, you know that we have been offering support for the n54/n55 platforms for a while now and our products are second to none in terms of performance, reliability, and fit & finish. So with that said, I would like to reintroduce our company back on E90post with our new Competition Series Dual Oil Coolers.



This oil cooler upgrade kit was thoroughly designed and tested after 3 years of development under the harsh conditions of our competition/time attack 135i and completely solves the dreaded limp mode on our cars.

The 135i/335i comes from the factory with a small oil cooler with a core size of 8.75"x4.75"x1" (222mmx121mmx26mm) which comes out to 41 cubic inches of core. The Competition Series Twin Oil Cooler system features two HUGE identical oil coolers 11"x8"x2" (280mmx203mmx51mm) with a core size of 9"x8"x2" (229mmx203mmx51mm) each. Each oil cooler comes out to 144 cubic inches which is 3.5 times larger than the factory unit each! Since there are two oil coolers, you have a combined 288 cubic inches of oil cooler core, over 700% more core than the factory oil cooler. Through 3 years of development and testing, our Competition Series Oil Cooler has kept our Time Attack 135i from seeing the dreaded limp mode issue due to oil temperatures. Regardless of conditions (ambient temperatures and track lay out), we have never exceeded 259F!!! This is in 110F+ track temperatures and wide open throttle pulls all the way to 6 gear (160+ mph). Through test cars used in our beta testing program, we are getting independently gathered, unbiased data showing the same exact thing.







Each Competition Series Twin Oil Cooler mounts to its own box enclosure. Louvers on the backside of the box enclosure ensures airflow through the oil coolers while protecting the oil cooler from road debris, especially debris kicked up from the front tires.



Also, traditional oil lines would typically be routed so that the oil gets split to each of the oil coolers (each oil cooler handling 50% of the oil) due to ease of building the system and lower costs. Our Competition Series Twin Oil Cooler System however are setup in a "sequential" configuration. What this means is that oil travels from one cooler to the other thereby 100% of the oil goes through both oil coolers. Our testing have shown significant increases in efficiency and performance running a "sequential" configuration. Our new CNC machined oil filter housing adapter (included in the kit) makes this possible.

Kit Options:
When the oil cooler box enclosures are used in conjunction with our optional ducting shroud kits, the oil cooler box enclosure actually seals and forces all the airflow captured by the ducting shrouds through the oil cooler cores. Improves the oil cooler's effectiveness and efficiency. The ducting shroud kits are available in aluminum or carbon fiber. These are model and bumper specific so make sure you order the correct shroud kit.

How are nylon lines better than stainless steel? We've had more nylon lines brake and leak oil on this forum, than any other type of set up. Even the OEM rubber lines have never even once broken.

We have used the Nylon lines on our 135i race car and never had an issue with them. However, we do offer the stainless steel lines for customers at no extra charge.

The reason we use nylon lines is because Nylon lines are significantly higher quality than some of the cheaper nylon lines used on the market today. Our high end Goodrich Nylon Braided lines are the new thing to use for oil lines as they have many advantages and no disadvantages (other than higher price) than traditional stainless steel braided lines. The main advantage is that they are lightweight. Nylon is considerably lighter than stainless steel. The second advantage is that Nylon Braided Lines are stronger than traditional stainless steel lines. Third, is that Nylon Braided Lines do not fray. Stainless steel braided lines will start to fray and those who are familiar with stainless steel braided lines know what we're talking about. The stainless steel mesh in the lines start to "fray" or break and thus you get poked with the broken ends. Saves a lot of bloody fingers. Fourth, they are abrasive resistant. Since stainless steel lines will act like a saw when it comes in contact with anything and will eventually cut anything it contacts whereas the Nylon braided lines are soft and pretty much won't ever do it. Fifth, heat resistance. Nylon Braided lines can withstand more heat and retain the heat inside the line better. Stainless steel lines tends to release the heat inside the lines, thus when you touch the lines, they tend to be hot. With all these advantages of the Nylon Braided Lines over stainless steel lines, it's the obvious choice for an Evolution Racewerks product.

Thank you for your interest, we do offer an all OEM parts retrofit for those that do not have the stock oil cooler. The kit includes oil cooler housing, thermostat housing, gaskets, and all hardware necessary for the install. Sweet! I saw this on your site the other day shopping around.. I carry a couple of your parts already on my 1 (FMIC, DV Charge Pipe) and this is def on my todo list.. I'm a fan of your products. You guys have quality stuff and top notch support. I haven't personally talked to you, but have had my conversations with Fred and he's an outstanding guy.

Might be a while before I am ready for purchase. On another note when will ER be releasing your intake manifold??

Does this work with a thermostat of any sort? This would go on a car that sees colder climates as well and need the temp to go up quickly as well in winter time

This kit is designed to work with the stock thermostat. We have lots of customers that run it in the east coast and none has reported any issues.

We've never installed this on a RHD vehicle so I'm not 100% sure. I don't see why the layout of the engine and front bumper would be any different from a LHD though.

I'm not a fan of braided lines at all, actually, be they nylon or steel braided. Just a short while ago I had a massive oil leak because one of the nylon lines I had from an aftermarket oil cooler rubbed through in the engine bay; this was because under the enormous oil pressure as well as heat they distend, and under load move around a bit, causing them to rub slightly on some sharp parts in the engine bay.

In order to avoid that, IMO the only feasible alternative are steel flex lines (i.e. not braided ones). Of course that's a bit more expensive as they have to be custom made, but that's what I've put on my car right now in order to avoid any further oil leaks.

And this is not a single occurrence, I know a few other people that had exactly the same problem.

Aside from that, I think it's a great product.

Still, another question: Due to the massive increase in oil volume, have you made calculations as to the capacity of the stock oil pump to deal with this?
