Wrong Akebono Brake Pads?

Hey Everyone,

So recently just got some rotors and pads from fcpeuro. I got them sent to my sister in Florida for when I come by for Christmas this year, but I noticed these pads have an extra spring clip on the front outer pads.

My current front pads do not have any extra clips on them.

I ordered their kit (fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-brake-kit-front-and-rear-e90-e92-e93-akebono-34116855000ktfr4) they had on sale and they included the Akebono EUR918 on the fronts and Akebono EUR1170 on the rear.

My car was manufactured 11/2009 so I got the kit for "up to 3/2010"

The problem is that the front pads (all 4 of them) have retaining spring clips on the back of the pads. Currently my car does not have them on the outer pads.

Is it still installable with the clip on the outer pad?
Can I grind off the rivet holding the clip on the outer pad on the fronts so that I can remove them? I don't have access to them at the moment so I will get the info if someone asks for something.

Thanks

The e90 caliper can accept both. Geniune pads dont have the outer clip anymore. I remember tripping out when I when I worked at the dealer when they were clipless.

Awesome thanks for the reply.

So I painted my calipers some time ago and the paint job is holding up great, can I grind off the clips if I wanted to? I dont want to tear into the paint trying to get them on.

Thanks,

I wouldnt. They put them on for a reason. May be tolerances arent so tight with non geniune pads..

Thanks for the info.

I won't grind off the springs and will just compress the springs carefully before putting them on the caliper.

I have all four front pads with clips and they work fine. Just to add to the above confirmation.
