i have a secret spot

where there are no cops and is a very flat leveled, freshly paved, straight away. so im comming home at 3.30am and try to max out the car. today i went up to 140 and i slowed down. i wanted to push to 155 and see what happens but i just pussed out. going 100 in this car is like 80 and going 140 is like 100 seriously. next time i will push it more and get to 155.

bmw surely is truth in engineering

PS: anyone hit 155? do you get a message on i drive or something saying the governer is active?

In all seriousness, don't do this on the streets...go to a track.

During my ED I hit the speed limiter a bunch of times. The car just stops accelerating with no other drama. In reality it doesn't feel that different than 140 or 130.

I hit 150 when my 325 was stock. It felt pretty fucking fast to me. When I had a 1996 Supra TT I could hit 155 like nothing and it felt like what 135 feels like in my BMW.

Also hit 150ish in a 360. It was a spyder so it felt like we were doing 200+.

I don't get it. You are curious to see if your BMW can go up to 155. What's the point? You KNOW that your car can reach at that speed, but why it's necessary for you to see if it can go that fast?

Maybe you want to boast your friends "hey, my car is faster than yours!!" I think it is really stupid... If you REALLY want to go FAST, a lot faster than 155, you can aboard in a commerical jetliner, the Boeing 747, it will fly at 600-650 mph, for your silly thrill of speed.

I, myself, don't care if my car is capable to go at 155. I *enjoy* to drive my car, the ultimate driving machine, the combination of luxury and performance. I usually drive 65-80 on the freeways, no need for me to go beyond 80.

Get a life. Enjoy your car.

First of all yes I hit 155mph many times on autobahn even passed it a little going down hill in the swiss alps. You don't get anything. No message or anything. Pedal has sensation that it went kinda dead and does nothing almost as if it was disconnected. Press nothing, press again nothing.

I have never gone that fast in the US. The roads were not made for that. The drivers should not even dream of it. In the US especially in bigger metro areas, this is like suicide attempt. You are really asking for it. JUST DON'T DO IT please. If you really want to, go to a track where you have a lot of space and grass outside, so if you loose it, you wont kill yourself or worse someone else. It doesn't feel that fast, but its crazy fast. Something, anything happens at those speeds, you may not have a prayer dude. It will be all over in the uglies terms.
