Lighter wheels to reduce un-sprung weight might give you a good bang for the buck.

I have a regular (i.e., non-sport) car and liked the feel of Koni FSDs but that was over $1,000 with installation.

How are the koni fsd holding up paint wise? I heard issues with koni paint coming off and causing rust.

My yellows are starting to flake/rust after 1 season in NY. Shocks themselves perform flawlessly otherwise.

What are you looking to change or improve?

Frame stiffing, roll bars, shock mounts, reducing un spring weight, etc. all come to mind.

I’m guessing this is a street driven car?

Hi Chief- can you provide a couple details on the M3 suspension part? I heard either diff bushings or subframe bushings, which please? If I had it to do over, I would have not touched the diff bushings and used a diff brace instead. $150 from guy named VWetish on n54tech.com. You need to specify the big diff (215). It’s an easy install too. If no sub frame bushings, consider those. If you have diff bushings, the diff brace would be overkill. One or other is enough.

Totally unrelated, and I apologize, but what front wheel/tire setup are you running?

I want to run Ohlins, but can't figure out if they will work with my 255/40-17 front tires on a 17x9et30 wheel. I know the rear has plenty of clearance, just unsure of the fronts.

Start by comparing the adjuster diameter. I will measure my ground control adjuster next time i get in there. The larger the diameter, the more trouble you will have with inboard clearance. The other thing i learned was my adjuster has a sculpted out feature that gives more clearance when it it pointed outboard. It was stupid random luck than one side (RF) was pointed inboard and other (LF) was pointed outboard. When i was test fitting my rear 255/35/18 (8.5" wide Msport with ET37), one side was touching and the other wasn't. I 1/2 spun the other side to point outboard and then both sides were no longer touching.

I'd be curious to hear about the Ohlins as well.

With those wheels you have approximately 8 fewer millimeters of inboard clearance compared to the OE wheels. Are they APEX wheels? If so, try getting in touch with APEX directly and ask about that wheel's compatibility with Ohlins. The customer service is very responsive, knowledgeable and forthcoming about which of their wheels work with different platforms and set-ups and can provide suggestions regarding spacers, camber setting, and fender rolling to make different set-ups work.

Apex ARC-8s. I'll shoot them a message later. I'm hoping I can find a local 390 with Ohlins that would let me put my wheels on their car for a short time to see if it all fits.

well I swapped in a bunch of m3 suspension parts and I tend to agree on the rigid diff bushings... worth it who knows? What was worth it was the ohlins even though they cost an arm and a leg.
