328i break-in procedure

Hello, all the dealer said regarding breaking in my car (manual tranny) was "dont go over 4,500 rpms and try not to go over 100mph if you can, for the first 1000 miles.

I heard other people say they can't go over 70mph etc, so I am a little nervous... is that really all I have to consider during the break-in period?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

basically you are not to sustain greater than 4500 rpms for a period of time and you are not to drive at more than 100 mph.

That is all... BMW engines are all have an initial break-in done at the factory any way.

To get the best break-in, it is good to vary the rpms quite a bit rather than to cruise at one engine speed for a long time...

If you cruise in reverse for 30 miles straight, you dont have to worry about break in. Its a quicker method for break in.

my dad and a buddy of his always go to TJ in his benz and no one touches it..plus if your in TJ there are places you can park your car for a little money where they will be watched for its right down the street from the carls jr in downtown TJ.

TJ is a big city with big problems...you can never be sure
you would have better luck with your car driving down the coast on the toll roads til rosarito or ensenada...and those places are a lot of fun and safer than TJ.

or you could pay some kids to watch your car...thats what i do.
